ok, a friend is pregnant about twelve weeks along. Background on mom and dad is they're both addicts, mom likes pills and alcohol and dad perfers heroin. they both were using heroine for the first two months of the pregnancy. The baby was conceived after a one night stand. Mom had a copper IUD in and Dad was wearing a condom that broke. Both parents are clean now but both still smoke and mom is on medications for anxiety (Vicodine & Trazadone) and an ifection of some sort (clyndamiacin). She's ending her first trimester and the IUD is still in (although scheduled to be removed on the 12th of August). I just want to know what this baby's chances actually are of be born healthy? I've told her that with all she's done to the baby already it might be more responsible to end the pregnancy but she says, "I wont hurt my baby." What can I do? What are the baby's chances?

Sadly, there is little you can do to change things now. Statistically, she has reduced the chances of having a normal child, but there is also a possibility it will be OK. Then you have to consider what kind of environment the child will encounter growing up. As a friend, perhaps you will have some influence during those years.

In pregnancy eating choclates is also harmful thing.Because it contains caffeine in it.. The effect of eating chocolates during pregnancy are many like affects brain,over calories and eating more will result in putting weight due to calories.
