According to herbalists and folk medicine, there are 2 ways to take the red raspberry tea for pregnancy. One way is to drink 1 cup, steeped normally,of the tea every day throughout pregnancy. Then when labor truly begins, steep one ounce of leaves in boiling water for 30 minutes and strain. As you leave for the hospital (if the hospital is within 20 minutes) start drinking this strong mixture. Realize that
it will be very strong and hard to get down but, apparently this is the proper strength to really help the labor and birth.
History shows that for many women the contractions remain strong while the pain recedes. The pushing stage is supposedly shortened dramatically. I am comptemplating using the strong mixture when I go into labor. Be sure you are using the real thing...many herbal teas are just flavored versions instead of the real red raspberry tea leaves.

I also took red raspberry tea during my first pregnancy because of the benefits I'd read about. I had an easy delivery (was induced) labor for 13 hours but only about 2 hours of what I'd call "hard" labor, pushed for only 1/2 hour, and had a healthy 8 lb 11 oz baby. I also had read that this herb can stop first trimester bleeding and spotting. I started spotting about 6 weeks into the pregnancy and as long as I took the herb the bleeding stopped. I'm pregnant again and you better believe I've stocked up..!!!

I'm at 39 weeks now and I swear this tea worked for my progress. I'm a first time mom and my doc is b__wn away by my progression. I'm 12 cm dilated and 80% effaced and the crams I’m experiencing now are great for labor because it means my cervix is ripening, making it better when I actually start having contractions. I started drinking like 3 to 4 cups a day about a week ago. Since 32 weeks I was having 2 cups a day.

I'm drinking 2-3 cups per day. I'll let you know if it works soon, because I only have 17 days left to go!!! I've been adding sugar to improve the taste though. Does anyone know if this changes the effect of the tea?

Make sure it's rasp. LEAF tea. Just Rasp tea will do nothing. I bought mine yesterday at a health foods store, brewed it up last night and had strong contrax from 8-11:30 they tapered off by 2:30. I have an appt Wed to be checked and I am curious to see if it is "moving the process along". I also had about 3 gla__ses of it. I brewed it weak and added splenda- it won't hurt the tea. Just steep it covered to maintain the oils!
