My husband and I are wondering if it's healthy to have a baby after 40. I am actually 41. Since it would be my first child, I'm wondering about complications. Also, I have been a marijuana user for over half my life. Can that be a problem ? Thank you so much,

Hi Josee, I am now 40 and will be 41 and I just became pregnant 3 months ago. So far, so good, bite my tounge of course that everything should go well. In my case, my Dr. told me that I am pefectly healthy and all should be fine. This too is my first child. Everybody is different though, and it's up to you and your Dr. I think, to determine possible complications. The only thing I can tell you is that after 35 as you probably already know, there is a higher risk of downsyndrome, but the tests they do today are very good, just make sure you are tested for that. I don't know about the marijuna though. Anyways, Take care and best of luck to you and your husband.
