the best book is Super Baby Food. You can get it on amazon for about $10. Start with banana, avacado, or sweet potato. Wait 4 days in between in case child is allergic - then you will know what it's from.

If I remember right....www.Gerber.com is a good website about when to start first foods. You could always ask your baby's doctor..Good luck!!!

I'm not sure if it's still in print, but I have a book called Feed me, I'm yours that has great ideas and recipies. It also has ideas for crafts to do with toddlers and ideas for birthday parties. The best idea I got from this book was making "food cubes". You make your baby food, usually by boiling it until it's soft, then puree it in the blender or food processor (add some of the cooking liquid until it's the consistency you need). Use an ice cube tray to freeze portions of the food, and then thaw the cubes as needed for meals. I did it for my daughter, and it was great, because then I could give her a fruit, a vegetable and an entree at each meal without having to prepare three separate things each time. Of course, you'll want to start with baby cereal mixed with formula or b___stmilk, and then start introducing a simple food at a time, working up to the point where you need several foods at each meal.

Hi wenling, I used Gerber natural foods( I hope I wrote down the right name of the baby food) 1st foods. I took the food out of the jar at each feeding. If you feed the baby directly from the jar, throw it away after each feeding. Bacterial can grow in the jar. Good Luck!!!
