When do babies start drinking more than 4 oz at a feeding? My son is 1 montyh old and he drinks between 2-4 oz every 3-4 hours. He wakes up twice during the night to eat and I am wondering when that usually goes down to once a night?

Every 3 - 4 hours is normal for feeding at 1 month! You should be offering a bottle that often until your baby reaches 10 lbs. 1-2 months baby should drink anywhere from 3 to 4 ounces per feeding, two to six months: 4 to 6 ounces per feeding, and six months to a year: as much as 8 ounces at a feeding. So your baby is doing just fine! Take care! ~smiles and best wishes~

I fed my children when they were hungry. Think of it this way. You and someone eat breakfast at the same time, you are hungry 1 hour later while they aren't hungry until 2 or 3 hours later. Every baby is different just as every person is different. I know I don't like to be on an eating time schedule. I also found that my children were happier after I stopped the time keeping. I did however keep it to the same amount because sometimes babies have the tendency to eat too much.

Chelle, Children tend to crave a schedule! Without routine you get no where! I mean if your babies hungry of course feed them and during the night you can stretch out feeding times, and later on as you wean baby off eating at night, he or she will sleep through the night! And you are right that babies are all different!

skyes, you are right. I guess what I was trying to say is that your baby will some how find its own schedule. some like a 2-3 hour while some are more of a 3-4 hour. Its more like making an adjustment.

My daughter is almost 7 weeeks and she eats 4-5 oz every 3- hours during the day then at night she usually goes 5 hours then up after 3 to eat again maybe to catch up for the long one. Anyway you'll find your own pattern or should I say your baby will.
