So, I just got back from taking the kids grocery shopping.... While we were there, Hailey noticed a "short person". (midget, dwarf, vertically challenged, whatever...)... Hailey kept asking "Is that a kid? Is that a kid?", in her loudest voice! Trying to keep her quiet, I tried to explain why they were shorter adults, and it wasn't polite to stare and talk about people. Well, that really got her interested in them! "How do they reach things?", "How do they drive?" "How do they open doors?" I kept telling her not to talk about them, but she could look at them if she was curiuos. So Hailey climbs out of the cart, and tries to peek around the corner aisle, staring at them like a stalker!!!! Then to top it all off she yells,"Mom you're wrong, they are kids that are grocery shopping by themselves!" I was mortified! I want her to know that it is okay to look at people and realize difference in everyone, but its not okay to draw attention to people! She is constantly calling people out, and quite frankly if she doesn't learn to stop, she will eventually get herself beat up some day!!! Aaaahh, just had to share yet another embarrassing day......

LOL, My daughter was famous for things like that. People are understanding to how innocent children are. My daughter was at the salon with me and the hairdryer was going, well in walks this woman who had just gotten over fighting cancer and had no hair. (she was getting her nails done) Anyways Taherra yells (hairdryer) and says "Mommy why is that lady here, she doesn't have hair?" well i just about died when the lady walked over and said i love children for their honesty and innocence. Also there was another time (same salon, same child of mine) when the hairdresser had someone bring in kittens to look at. Well there was a white one and Taherra (with her innocence) says "look mommy this one has hair just like that lady" (as she points to an older woman with white hair, lol. Kids. Also my nephew calls anyone with darker skin (my dad included (metis) ) chocolate people, lol.

Oh that's awful. I would have felt so embarrased. I would show her a video or buy a book about "different" people so she will have an opportunity to learn and ask questions while not making you want to crawl in a corner at the same time. This is a good lesson for me in the future.

Lol, amanda! Hailey is ALWAYS doing this! Once in the same store, she saw a lady with a bee-hive and blue eyeshadow (Okay could've been Tammy Bakers sister...) and said "She's ugly!" All I ever do is *shush* Hailey! Sssshhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Another time at the Dr.'s, Hailey saw a really tall, not so beautiful lady, and says "That man is ugly!" I just about peed in my pants.

Amayas Mommy AKA Stephanie - December 14

I FRIGGIN LOVE YOUR STORIES!!! I know you arent telling me this to make me laugh but more to get "advice" but it cracks me up! She is so funny! I know that I am going to have my hands full with Amaya, she is already staring at people that look "different" (A lady at WalMart the other day had tattoos all over her body and amaya was trying to touch them!) Anyway, when you figure out what to do with her and her questions and comments let me know so I will have a "heads up"

LOl, Stephanie! She sure is honest, if anything! Even to me! I got a little self conscious the other day because she told me my back was fat! What a brat! Amanda, its a relief to know that this wont last forever! Geez, if she's not going to get beat up, I sure will!

Kids are very honest and they say whatever is on their little minds. Usually your most scariest outings can be with your child when they are between the ages of 3-5 years old. They will and do say anything. They are not trying to be mean, they are just observant. The problem with buying a book or explaning things to a young child of the 3-5 year age range is that you could explain that people are different and they come in all shapes and sizes, but it's worthless for the most part. All their "learning" will fly right out their ears and onward will the comments come!! Horribly embara__sing....but you have funny stories later on.

LOL Chelsey. BTW,several months ago I went to a comedy club and they had a midget on stage. She was sooooo funny, she was telling about how she could not use a tampon b/c she would trip over the cord, and how pantyhoses say one size fits all,she said it does fit ALL and pulled the rest of the pantyhose from her pants over her head.Sorry,it has nothing to do with Hailey, but the midget reminded me of her.

oh joy! can't wait for those days!! haha my little brother is 14 and sadly, he is still in those "outspoken"days...when I went back home for a visit after Tasia was born he says "what's wrong with her nose?" (she had melia) "She has skin like a teenager" (baby acne) "She looks like a hairy italian" (apparently having dark hair makes you italian these days.......?) "She has more chins than a chinese phonebook!" LOL ok I have to admit, the chinese phonebook one gave me a good laugh! He's a clever little bugger. He is autistic though, so he is super smart is some ways but his socials skills umm....lack....haha

My daughter says things too. She went up to a man who was missing a leg and said, "Hey, man, where your leg go to?" She asked a lady in the thrift store how she got a black face, and if she could have one too. She saw a woman who was holding her umbrella between her thighs (don't ask me why) and said "Lady, there's something stuck up your b___t. You need to have to get it out or your b___tcrack will get an ouch." Every time she does something like that, I explain to her that she can't talk about people, and then the next time I tell her to stop something she says, "We don't talk about people, mommy, stop talking about Valerie." I think it's just a phase she'll get through soon, hopefully without someone kicking my b___t. Oh, about the tattoos...While I was in the hospital having Sophie, my sister covered Valerie head to toe in temporary tattoos. We went to the store the day I got out of the hospital, and a girl working there came up to Valerie and said her tattoos were neat. Then she pulled her pants down far enough that we could see her tattoo...
