Nadya is 4 weeks and used to have 2 or 3 dirty (poopy) diapers a day, but over the last couple of days she's only done 1. She has plenty of wet ones, just not much of the other. Is this something to worry about?

My daughter done the same exact thing. She went from 2-3 a day to one in 2 days and we put a small amout of karo syrup in her formula and got it things moving. Also she actually got constipated and she was pooping small hard round b___s and we got the suppositories (SP?) safe for her size and had to use a small piece of one. Is she doing 1 a day or only had 1 in a few days? It could be the formula is she taking formula? Try not to worry to much and if it keeps on happening just go to the doctor to ease your mind. My daughter started doing this when she was just a week old and still does it and she is now 3 months old. Best of luck.

Thanks Nelly. She does at least 1 a day, and she's not constipated. She's also b___stfed, so I haven't a clue why her normal routine has changed. Maybe she's just using up more calories or something? Hmmm......It's a mystery.

My daughter did the same thing. I think as they grow a little bit, there's more room in the intestines and they don't have to poop as often.

Thanks Jbear. Actually, I was so worried about it last night, because she hadn't done anything for about 30 hours, so I did some research on the net, and you're right. I found out that they're bowel movements decrease around 4 weeks of age, which exactly the age of my daughter. Apparently, it's more noticeable in b___stfed babies. I needn't have worried. She had a nice suprise for me this morning. Lol! :)

Most of the time b___stfed babies will not get constipated. good way to tell if they're constipated is just to look at it. soft- not constipated. hard round b___s- constipated. they're routines do change.newborns poo with almost every feeding and they get farther and farther apart as they get older.

My pediatrician said that they only go on average 1-2 times at one month old.
