Ladies, has anyone hired a baby nurse? What does she do exactly? Was it helpful? How much can I expect to pay? I will br___tfeed and am scheduled for a c-section.

Look into getting a doula. They have different programs, and help out b___stfeeding moms a lot. It depends where you live what they charge. They are usually a small homebased business. Mine was great, very loving and caring. She knew just what to do and say to be supportive. She was a great cook.

Is this your first baby? I watched Bringing Home Baby on TLC and a woman had one and hated her. Always telling her she was doing things wrong. I would suggest someone to cook and clean for you because if you're nursing your baby's going to want you a lot, not a nurse. I think a Doula's job is to mother the mother. They also have a lot of experience with b___stfeeding and any support, help and info a new nursing mom can get is great. Good luck with your new little one when it arrives!

April, yes, this is my first. :) I am also a single mom and will probably have a c-section so I need all the help I can get. I think you're right - a doula focuses more on the mom, I need someone to help with chores and show me how to take care of the baby.

April -was it the BBH with the Chinese girl and her overbearing mom? The woman they hired from China was always telling the girl that she was doing everything wrong. The girl fired her by the end of the week. Too funny! PJJ- Sorry - I do not have any expereince with aby nurses or doulas, so I cannot say one way or another. Sorry!
