I guess we should be glad for posters like WTF...they're the ones who go and buy all their baby stuff new, barely use it, and then donate it to thrift stores or sell it at yard sales so us "poor folks" can afford to dress our babies in nice clothes...If everyone in the world waited to have kids until they could buy everything new, the human race would be in danger of dying out. From what I've seen, the stores that specialize in baby gear really profit from the insecurities of new parents...I promise you, your baby is not going to look at their bedroom when you bring them home and say "That's not an eight-hundred dollar crib, take me back to the hospital!" As long as everything you get meets safety requirements, it's good enough.

I just had a baby a week ago and am also not married. Being pregnant and having a kid will put a strain on any relationship. Talk to your boyfriend and make sure he understands that being pregnant puts a strain on you and with hormones out of wack, there is bound to be fighting. I know i put my boyfriend through alot and I thank him for just dealing with it. We fought alot too but we understood the changes that were happening/going to happen. After I had my son, I was overwhelmed by love for my boyfriend. Just make sure you still communicate well with him throughout the pregnancy, it def helped me.

JBear is so right. As long as the items you purchase meet the safety standards required of baby products, you are in good shape. Babies do not need most of the stuff that commercialism wants you to believe they need. You will be surprised at how few things are necessary on a day to day basis. Diapers and formula are the big expenses, as well as daycare, if you go that route.

Most of my baby stuff was given to me from friends who had babies already, my family shopping, and yard sales. If you bottle feed, get WIC and then all you have to worry about is diapers. And those really arent that bad to buy. At the most I spend $11 a week on diapers. You will be fine, don't worry so much.

Some thigns you can buy used, and try ebay! But the carseat should be new and researched.... Financially, there are programs around that can help... i you are pregnant and make under like 20-30 thousand a year, your prenatal care can be covered through the state, for little or no cost to you. Also, if b___st feeding doesnt work out, look into programs like WIC, which can supplement formula. Sign up online at different baby sites... you can get lots o coupon and samples for diapers and baby related items! If this is your first baby, mayeb youll luck out and one of your friends/family will throw you a baby shower, so maybe you can register at babies r us or something to cover some stuff! Also, look into community programs for daycare, if you need it- sometimes there are subsidys for students, teachers, low income, etc. You can do this! Issues that would come up, would be something like the circ_msicion debate if its a boy, who is going to take care of the baby while one/both is at work... working out schedules at night so that you can get some sleep every now and then! Making sure that both of you have an active role in this child life... i found that taking my hubby with me to my prenatal visits, ultra sounds, and birthinig cla__ses made him much mroe excited and eager to particpate... even in chaning diapers! and he takes night feedings often too!
