My 6 month old son has eczema according to the doctor. He has what appears to be a rash on most of his body. I've been able to get it to clear up most of the way(with prescip. meds), but if he cries for even a minute or gets too warm or even strains to have a bowel movement, his condition flares up and he gets raised bumps and patches all over him. The doctor gave him a prescription cream with steroids in it but when that was done, the probelm came back. I've done everything the doctor has advised but still cant get ahead of it. He itches all the time and has a hard time sleeping! Can anyone help???!!!

When my children have eczema flareups, I put Eucerin and 1% hydrocortisone cream on the patches of dry, rashy skin. Have you tried asking your doctor about Elidel? It's a non steroid eczema med.

I've been using Aquaphor healing ointment so far. I did ask about Elidel and my doctor said that he was too young - its for 2yr old and up. What do you do for the itching/scratching?

The 1% hydrocortisone works on the itching, too. You can buy it OTC. I just use the store brand.
