I just received my son's birth certificate and it has only my name on it, not my boyfriends. I'm not married and my son has my boyfriends last name. My boyfriend did sign the paterinity papers as he is the father. Isn't his name suppose to be on the birth certificate? I think it might have been from the place receiving the birth certificate request before the paternity papers. It was a week after I mailed the request. Does anybody know what I have to do to get his name on it? Am I able to get his name on it? I will be very upset if I can't. I won't be able to call the place until Monday (office hours) and I would like to know what I will have to do.

You can get his name on it, but changes to the BC usually require some type of fee. Other places it may be free, but I know from experience even a mistake made by them, I HAD to pay to have corrected.

Yes that happend to me and the changes have just been made. If your boyfriend did sign the paternity papers then his name should of been on it. But since you said you mailed the paternity papers after, then that is probably why that happend. I mailed the paternity papers way after also but since they had already made the birth certificate with my name only i had to pay $10 to change the info. You will probably receive a letter after they receive the paternity papers saying that they received it. They sent me that letter this week and all i have to do now is send back the old birth certificates and they will replace them. But definitely call the place on Monday, let them know u sent the paternity papers and ask the status of it.
