How do I know which FORMULA is BEST for my son? He is on Enfamil Lipil w/Iron and is 8 days old. Everytime I give him a bottle it's as if he doesn't like the taste, but will still drink it. Everytime when he feeds he poops, is this normal? and tonight around 11pm he was up with GAS PAINS until around 2am. What should I do?

Mylicon, it's OTC and it's good. Good news is, the gas pains go away in a few weeks. Enfamil lipil and Similac advance are identical in terms of nutrients. I like the way Enfamil disolves better and it doesn't make as many bubbles as similac. They both taste disgusting, just have some and you'll see what I'm talking about :-) Anyway the baby will drink it when he's hungry, and make sure you burp him in between ounces.

I did look at many formulas before deciding on Enfamil lipil with iron for my baby. I feel that it is very good for brain development. She has not been sick until this week and she is 4 1/2 months old. She has ear infections now from her shots last week. It doesnt matter what formula you use it all tastes bad! at 8 days old it is still new to him. Mylicon drops work wonders! You can use them up to 12 times a day so you can use them with every feeding. Goodluck!

Our son is now 3 months old and we tried Enfamil ?iron. He spat up a lot with it so we switched to Similac - although most of his feeding is done at the b___st. As far as gas is concerned, he still suffers from gas. Poor thing. The drops aren't really working. I think he's a colicky baby....

the great thing about these drops is that it doesn't get absorbed into the body - it just acts as a sponge in the intestines, so no harm done if it doesn't work.

my baby had terrible gas pains. i tried the similac w/iron-she had tons of gas pain w/that even when i gave her the mylicon drops. then i switched to similac soy-same thing and now i have her on enfamil nutrimengen. it's more expensive but it's worth it b/c she is a different baby. my dr. suggested the enfamil and it has done wonders. i still use the drops b/c she is a ga__sy baby. ask your dr. b/c mine suggested the soy and the nutrimigen. she even suggested chamoile tea and if you get gripe water it does have the chamoile in it. i bought a similar product at walmart called tummy soother. it has the same ingredients as gripe water and it's cheaper.
