My son is 1 week old and just about ready to have 4oz a feeding. It seems like alot for a baby that is just 1 week. Is this normal for his age? I also want to know if anyone has any feeding tips on keeping him satisfied longer during the night. If he wants to sleep through a supposed feeding, is it okay as long as he is fed more during the day? Any tips on feeding will be greatly appreciated.

Wow that does sound like alot! M yson is going to be 9 weeks and he is eating about 4 oz every 2 hours! I have not been able to break him from eating every 2 hours. Recently I read in a book if you feed at 2 hour intervals they will sleep longer like 5,7,9,11. He sleeps great too. I put him down at 9:30 pm and he wakes up at 4:00am for a feeding then sleeps till 7:00am! He doing very well. I feel like I am feeding him too much but his Dr. said it was fine so I'm not going to worry! Feed him more if he wants more too..good Luck!

When I left the hospital, they told me to feed him 4 oz. My nurse told me that they judge how much they should eat by their weight. Laiken was 8 lbs 6 oz. When I went in for his first check up, he weighed 9 lbs 2 oz ( he was a week and a half). The dr. said that everything looked great! However, she did say that he should only eat 2-3 oz, but that is because he spits up a lot! He is 2 weeks and 2 days old and now eats anywhere between 2-4 oz each feeding every 2-3 hours.
