My daughter is 4 months old and has been given the go ahead to start solids. I have no idea where to start. I tried giving her rice cereal with formula. I have done this once a day for two days. She seems to like it, but most of it ends up on her bib. How long till I try something else and is there an order as to what I give her and when. Please help, I am so "out to lunch" on this one.

One of my neighbors gave me a book called "First Meals," by Annabel Karmel. It has lots of recipes for baby food and ideas for when you should start them. Most of what you feed your baby at first will come right back out. I fed my oldest in just her diaper, since skin is so much more washable than little clothes. The things I fed her at first were pears and sweet potatoes, cooked until they were soft and then put through the blender. You can also get advice from your baby's doctor about what foods to start with. If you or anyone in your family has food allergies, you may want to wait several days between trying new foods, to watch for allergic reactions.

there is a book you can get on amazon.com called Super Baby Food. It is about 10 dollars. It's an amazing book that will help a lot. The best foods to start with are banana, sweet potato, and avacado. Good luck :)
