Gassy Ass And Simethicone Drops

I recently started giving my 4 week old simethicone drops for gas and he seems to have these small clear beady crystals in his poop now. His little rumpy also seems redder. Anyone else experience this with this product?

I've used it for both of my kids, and for myself after my c-section, and never had that happen. Little clear beads could be part of the absorbant material of the diapers. A red rump could mean he is sensitive to the diaper wipes you're using, has a diaper rash (use ointment) or needs more frequent changes.

The beads appeared right after I started using the stuff. you're right about the rash, but I think the beady things are causing it. Maybe you're right about the diapers, but why would it start now? I;ve beening using these diapers for two weeks now.

I am not sure, but a thought is maybe he has started using the bathroom more since you started using the drops, or maybe him letting air out has some affect on the diapers with the urine. (I really dont know but it was something that came to mind)

Emma didn't start getting diaper rash till she was 4 wks old so I switched her wipes to pampers sensitive and it seemed to help a lot along with more frequent changes and letting her air out when I'm changing her. I use lots of Desitin also. You know newborns have seedy poop if they're b___stfeeding. It looks sort of funny and I could see where you're mistaking it for crystal like beads....or I could be wrong. Maybe bring a diaper to your pediatrician and see what he/she thinks.

You could cut open a clean diaper and take out a little of the stuff in it. Get it wet and see if the little clear blobs are the same you're seeing in the poop. I had a box of diapers that did that with my first daughter. First time I saw it I thought she had warts or something like that on her tush.

JBear- I didn't do the diaper test, but the beads are gone. And they reminded me of that crystal cat litter, so I think you are right. It definitely was not part of the normal seedy poop I've seen. I am so p__sed about the rash, though. I had it almost completely cleared up and now it is twice as bad as before. I didn't do a lot of diaper changing Saturday- hubby and parents did, and it has been way worse ever since. :(

The clear beady crystals are definitely from the diaper. That usually happens when the diaper is really wet, which happens from time to time. I love the t_tle of your question, it made me laugh! :o)

I do know that a persistant diaper rash could be either a yeast infection or something along that line (even for boys). I had to get a prescription cream for my sons diaper rashes. Maybe ask your doctor to take a look.

Went to the doc today b/c Ben has been spitting up a lot more. She is not his usual doctor, but she thinks he is fine. I had her look at his rash, and she didn't seem to think much of it. We have a follow-up visit on Thursday with his regular doctor and I will show him.

I put lansinoh on my daughter's diaper rash. If you have any around you might try it. You can also try an oatmeal bath, if the rash gets bad enough.

i use lansinoh lanolin too, for diaper rash. it works incredibly well - we've thrown out all the "standard" ointments because it clears up rashes faster than them all. you can buy it at target or walmart, in the b___stfeeding dept.
