My son is 8 days old and everytime he feeds he gets HICCUPS real easily, because he drinks fast, why is that?

Immaturity of his respiratory and digestive system, and swallowing of air. Perfectly normal. You can try to stop it by the same way you do the over the shoulder burping. Oh, for an 8 day old, also make sure you use the nipple with a marking of "1"

My son gets the hiccups quite a bit and he hates them. He is 5 1/2 weeks old. To get rid of them, I lay him down and let him cry for about a minute or two and then they are gone. The reason why he cries, I think, is because he is so miserable. Another thing I have heard is giving thim a sip of water. I don't know if it works or not, but you are supposed to make sure that the baby is sitting up when feeding the water to them, since it is so thin. I would only do like 1/2 an ounce of water if you tried it.

My 6 week old gets the hiccups constantly...I dip her pacifier in b___st milk so that she'll suck/swallow real hard, and they go right away.

My son always used to get hiccups. I found that a little bit more formula or a few drinks of water helped.

Did you ever notice while you were pregnant that your belly "jumped" rhythmically? Hiccups for newborns are really for strengthening their diaphragm. Not much you can do to prevent them or cure them. They go away on their own. But, if that isn't a good enough answer, make sure you burp your baby every 1 to 2 oz (or every 5 mins or so if b___stfeeding). You child won't have hiccups forever, and their kind of cute, aren't they???
