Hi ladies,
my two month old has a red patch on her arm and a few tiny spots on her abdomen around her ribs, I'm worried that this may be a hemangioma and that it will get huge!! Have any of you had any experience with them, the research I've been doing says that most docs won't treat them since they start to disappear after a year old, any info.???

My daughter started to develope a hemangioma when she was a month old. By the time she was about 9 mos. it was at it's biggest. Her Doctor said that it should go away by the time she is 4- 5 years old. Well, she's 4 now, and it has started to disappear only a little. Its on her eyebrow, but doesn't affect her vision, and it isn't considered a problem, so the Doctors are leary of putting her through any surgery to remove it. She's got an appointment with a Dermatologist next month, to see if they will laser it off before she gets into Kindergarten. Hemangiomas can get big, but any that I have seen are about the size of a dime, maximum. Usually Doctors consider Hemangiomas to be a cosmetic issue, and they wont remove them. You can go to my site and see a pic. of my daughter and her hemangioma. it truly is her beauty mark! www.my2angels.piczo.com.
