My husband & I will have to put our little one into daycare next year (due in May) and I haven't the slightest of how much they run. We live in NE Florida. When you call a place they say stuff like "well, come in & we can discuss it". I don't want to have to do that. I just want to be able to work a budget! Let me know if you have any numbers!

You know it is so hard to say. Here in Nevada and infant, or not potty trained child runs me 560 per month. My daughter who is 4 is 520 a month. But that is for a Montessori SCHOOL not a daycare a private school. I would just pop into a few of the daycares and do a tour and get pricing from there. Dont call when you plan on going, just pop in.

In Southest TN, infant care in the places I've checked runs from $125 to $150 a week. Something I'd suggest, which I'm currently looking into, is home based daycares. Sometimes you can really luck up and find a sweet, capable grandmotherly type willing to keep an infant for less, like $70 a week or so. Good luck with everything, and congratulations on keeping a budget!

Geez, I am definitely living in the wrong place. Here in LA, the average cost is 200$-250$ a week for an infant. I am so lucky that her Grandma is able to care for her while I am at work because that definitely was NOT in my budget. Sorry I dont have any info for Florida but as for them not wanting to give prices over the phone, I ran into that alot too and ended up having to just stop in but at least that way you can see the place and determine if it is worth it. I think they dont want to tell you over the phone because they know that it will sound like alot without you getting to see first hand the care your child would be receiving.

In small city in Illinois...~$800/month for infant. That includes formula, diapers, wipes, babyfood, etc., though. there are cheaper options, but I wouldn't send my kid there... You might check with a local or state childcare office (not sure what it would be in FLA). We were able to get a listing of all child care in our area with prices from the Child Care Resource and Referral Office.
