In Law Blaming It All On Underfeeding Baby

I am br___t feeding and using formula on my big boy (he was born with a bit over 9 lbs). He is eating 4+ oz of formula+ br___tmilk combination. He is going to be 3 weeks tomorrow. My inlaws are staying here to "help" with baby. Everytime the baby cries she says he is hungry, even when he is not rooting (also she never checks diapers to see if that is the problem). In her mind the solution to a crying baby is to stuff him with 2 extra oz of formula. She has done so a couple of times. He is the kind of baby that will overeat and then throw up or feel sick until digestion is done. Can overfeeding be harmful to the baby? How can I tell her to get a grip of reality and and learn that stuffing a kid is not a way to always deal with a crying baby. Thanks :)

Yes, I think overeating is not good for a baby, not to mention he will not feel good. I really think you have to lay down the law with her and advise that her kind of helping is not helping. A baby cries for other reasons than being hungry. My grandma thinks that as soon as my son is fussing he needs to eat, and I had to tell her that that makes his fussing worse, if he does not feel good and throws it up. Poor baby, save him from grandma!LOL! I would be so irritated with her!

you have no idea how much it irritates me. She came here to help us with baby but instead she is deep cleaning my home and sighs constantly while cleaning,as if to say what huge pigs we are and how dirty our home is. She does not want to be with my baby. she is far too busy cooking or cleaning (she does not have to do it, but chooses to). I do not get her at all. She is not very motherly, I guess.
