I know. I have told my mom that viruses and bacteria cause illness, not cold. Yes, cold can lower one's immunity, but it does not cause illness. Unforunately, she cannot be reasoned with in this matter. She believes what she believes a bit fiercely and blindly, and in spite of evidence to the contrary. Her response would be, "Well, you and your sister came out fine." How do you argue with that? Ugh.

OH! And I love Heather's story about the whiskey! I think I will have a shot before I nurse my son tonight and see if that will put him to sleep. Yikes! That actually sounds like something my mom would do (but I don't think she did.) Actually, my parents would put some cognac on some gauze and had me suck on that after I lost a tooth, but I was at least 6 or 7 by then.

well my MIL is sooo into breasfeeding and I don't have a good milk supply that when we are together I have to feed my baby formula without her knowing i.e. lock the doors to my bedroom so we can feed him,n hide the bottles and formula in my nightstand and I HAVE TO CHANGE HIS DIAPER WITHOUT HER KNOWING OR ELSE SHE WILL KNOW THAT HE HAD FORMULA B/C OF THE POOP. I know he is my kid and I c an do whatever I want with him but I don't want to have a bad relationship with hubby's mother..she would be mad at me forever!

Oh, Leslie, that is so sad. That has to be stressful to you, no? would she really be that mad at you about it? I mean, you can't help if your supply is low, and the kid has to eat. I feel badly for you. :(

Christy, yes, she would be really mad at me.. I tried explaining to her but she said to immiadetly stop giving him formula..that my milk supply was low b/c I was supplimenting..It makes no sense!! also when I told her I bought a b___stpump she hanged up the phone on me! she doesn't even belive in pumps. and she says that I shouldn't hang around with formula mothers b/c they are the ones pressuring me to give him formula, how crazy is that!!
