Calm down Steph. You are not being attacked, it was a simple question because it is VERY alarming that you are giving out your opinion on a product and as soon as someone else does, you downplay their info as if it is no big deal when in fact IT IS A BIG DEAL.

I have a coper IUD also and love it. I don't have to remember to take the pill everyday and I am uneffected by hormones. I think it is great. My best friend has one also and thinks it is great. There is a 1/1000 chance of becoming pregnant, this risk increases if you lose excessive weight, in that case you can go to gyn and have them reset it.

I am also looking for birth control because I too had a hard time remembering to take the pill. Which is why I gave birth 4 wks ago. I thought that the IUD would have been a good source considering that they have one without harmones. I can not use one with harmones because I am nursing. If anyone has any other suggestions (besides condoms) that does not have harmones in them please let me know.

TO: TO STEPH: I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I APPRECIATE THAT YOU ARE MAKING PEOPLE AWARE OF THIS. I WAS ONE OF THOSE 1 IN 1000 WOMEN THAT BECAME PREGNANT WITH THE IUD AND MY OB DECIDED TO REMOVE IT. PART OF IT BROKE OFF INSIDE OF ME AND I GOT AN INFECTION WHICH LEAD TO A MISCARRIAGE AT 17 WEEKS. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIFIC THING I EVER HAD TO GO THROUGH AND I WOULDNT RECOMMEND AN IUD TO A SINGLE PERSON. IRONICALLY, A CO-WORKER OF MINE ALSO BECAME PREGNANT WITH AN IUD INSERTED AS WELL AS HER AUNT. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE ONLY 997 OTHER WOMEN WORLD WIDE SINCE 3 ARE IN MY REGION ALONE. WE ARE TAKING UP THE ISSUE LEGALLY. MY CO-WORKER LOST HER SON AS WELL.

I agree with Brittany on the Nuva Ring!!! Also, if you have sensitivities to birth control pills, the shot, the patch, etc, you may not with nuva ring. I had terrible weight gain, b___st tenderness, irritability, etc with the pill. I don't have any of that with Nuva Ring.

Tiffany, I'm b___stfeeding also, and am on the pill. I spoke to both my doctor and my lactation consultant, and they both okay'd it.

Thanks Jaime!! I really hope that my doctor okays the pill as well. Even though I have had a hard time remembering to take the pill, I think it is much better than an IUD or a lot of other methods I have read about.
