I here where you coming from new mom but I like to prepare for the worst expecting the best. I had a hard time dealing with an emergency c-section bc I did not prepare myself for the idea that it could've happen.

To TC - December 12

you didn't get what i ment to tell her..i asked to not to hear others bad experiences not that to not to prepare herself...i did prepare myself very well by reading several books and reading articles in net too..i asked her just to think positive and relax..

TC - December 12

So what is the difference from hearing peoples bad experiences and reading about them in books and articles?

To TC - December 12

I DIDN'T read books on bad experiences i read on what to expect on my oppintments..now what are you mad on me for? on encouraging her to be positive, relaxed and not to get scared if someone else went through pain but you might not go through it?

Kristina - December 12

I think it's good to be informed and prepared

TC - December 12

I am not mad at you. I am just voicing my opinion. Calm down. Reading books on what to expect does talk about worse case scenarios, ie, bad experiences. Same thing to me. I do understand about the relaxing part bc that is necessary. This is not an argument, just a friendly debate. Be easy.

Hey guys, thanks for all the info. I've read about as much as I can and watched a ton of those tv shows. The only thing I haven't done (and won't do) are the cla__ses as I'm not too into the whole group setting on purpose.......I too like to hear both the good and the bad. To be honest, if this makes sense, I am both positive but VERY scared about labour. So far I think my pregnancy has been far easier than most people (or at least compared to what I read on emssage boards). My first trimester was very, VERY rough as I was sick non-stop. The second trimester was a breeze, and the third......has been uncomfortable, but much better than I expected. I have trouble sleeping at night and some aches and pains, but nothing making me miserable and nothing untolerable........So when it comes to labour, I don't know whether to expect a nice easy one (cross fingers) or a rough one (maybe all the easy stuff is happening now, lol). I only have 5 weeks left and everyone says at the end the time goes so slow and you just want it to be over. Not for me! Time is FLYING by. Of course we just mvoed, there is Christmas and my twins (step-kids) b-day is New Years, so that probably keeps me occupied. I have never had any surgeries, been in any accidents, never been a patient, never broken a bone, never been in any real pain at all..... so you can imagine how terrifying it is. I'm worried I'll be a huge wimp, lol. I plan on just going with it htough and doing the best I can. I'm sure I will get an epidural (needles don't bother me), but if I don't need one (lmao) I won't. My actual biggest fear is my modesty issue. Anyway, thanks for all the info. For me, I like to expect the worst so that it's ususally not as bad as I imagined it would be (kind of like the preganncy so far).

I can totally relate Bonnie. I have never had a stich, broken bone or been hospitalized bf giving birth and I was 28 yrs old! I was a nervous wreck, but managed to calm down after the first hard contractions, just as long as no one was asking me dumb questions while in the middle of it.

I'm 20 ..and at the time of giving birth to my son things did in the way they were supposed to although i had a natural birth, i accepted every thing as noramal phenomenon

Michelle - December 13

Good luck Bonnie. Just keep in mind that it will be over soon...Drugs or no drugs, one way or another, baby is coming out!

Bonnie - December 14

"Drugs or no drugs, one way or another, baby is coming out!" Lol, yeah I keep hoping to avoid that part. :D ............One mroe question. Did any of you all suffer with tthat bad taste in your mouth during pregnancy? I've had it mostly throughout and the last weeks it's been the worst. The only thing that helps is to sip water non-stop (at least I get enough to drink) so I do that all day. Sometimes it gets so bad I get pretty nauseated. I just wondered how long after birth it takes for things like this to go back to normal. Thanks for all your help guys!

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 14

That only happened in the first trimester for me Bonnie. I had 24 hour a day nausea. Once that went away, so did the bad taste. I found sucking on mints helped a lot, or chewing minty gum. And sipping water. Yuck! I remember those days!
