What different methods are available for sterilizing bottles? Can you just do it the old fashioned way and boil everything? Do you sterilize after EVERY use or just when you get thigns new & then run them through the dishwasher?

I just run bottles through the dishwasher. It is not necessary to sterilize them. I do boil the nipples before the first use, however, as it seems to make them a little softer. Pediatricians recommend nowadays just to wash everything good in hot water.

Well, I wash everything by hand in the sink, and because I'm a germ freak, I pour boiling water over everything and let it sit for 10 minutes. My baby is almost 10 weeks old, and I'm sure its not neccessary to do this anymore, but I just want to be safe!

i just put the nipples and pacifiers in really hot water for about 10 min. (i prefer silicone nipples the rubber ones tend to grow mold) and wash everything else in warm soapy wather and rinse them in warm water

O.K. so who is buying all these gosh darn sterilizers that all the stores sell and try to make you feel like you're the worst mother in the world if you don't get one for your baby's bottles & nipples?

I try to boil in water for 5-7 mins weekly. The other times I use the dishwasher. My baby only gets 1 bottle a day though, so I don't have too many to do :)

I use an Avent steam sterilizer. I sterilize everything. I'm paranoid that my baby will get ill if I don't. Just can't take the chance that anything will happen to her. Just love her too much!

After each use, I clean the nipples with soap and water then boil them. I wash the bottles under hot water (I use drop ins).
