Tahlia's Mama - August 18

Hey, I know you swaddle baby Amaya, and she and Tahlia are almost the same age (few days difference). I was just wondering if she is starting to escape the swaddle? I know when I've gone in to check T (mainly during the day) she is escaping and wriggling up her bed.

Hey, Yes we do swaddle Amaya, and this sounds HORRIBLE, BUT it works, we use an adult long sleeved shirt and "tie" her up, we just lay her on it and tuck her arms in and then pull the arms of the shirt over her and tie it. She cant get her arms out but it doesnt bother her. It works really good. Our doctor told us to do it. I dont know what we will do when she gets older. I guess just keep going up in sizes of shirts. Is Tahlia sleeping through the night? Amaya slept last night from about 8:30 til 9 this morning. I am so proud of her. When she gets really good night sleep like that she has such a good day. Oh and for the shirt, we use a long sleeved tee shirt made of 100 percent cotton so it still breathes. When it is cooler in the house we still swaddle her in a recieving blanket and then wrap her in the shirt on top of the blanket. Good luck!!

Yeah, she sleeps through most nights which has been great for everyone. I'm still wrapping her in blankets, its winter down here, but I'm freaking out about summer! Have you thought about how long you'll keep wrapping her? I'm sorta glad she's escaping some nights as its getting her used to not being wrapped, if you know what I mean? Thanks, and good luck to you too. I've checked out Amaya's pics a few times, and she is definitely adorable! :o)

I dont know when we are going to stop swaddling her. She still has the reflexes and hits herself in the face. I think she is ADORABLE of course (proud momma) I felt so bad the other night though, she was taking her bath, and I stood her up to get her out and she slipped and bumped her head. It wasnt even hard, but I FREAKED out. Me being all worried, made her cry. She was totally fine, but I got up like every hour to check on her. When was Tahlia born again? Amaya was on May 9th. I am getting really excited about the 4 month mark coming up and her starting eating baby food. I think it will be soooooo much fun. Oh yeah, wasn't it you that was having such a hard time going back to work? How did that go. We decided that instead of Amaya going to daycare, that I would just stay home with her and just work weekends, and then her dad can stay home with her or she can go to her MiMi's (grandma) house. Anyway, Amaya is staying with her MiMi tonight so I think I am going to go to bed, and get a REALLY good nights sleep.

She was born May 5th. I'm not going to start her on solids till she's 6 months (not sure why, just this thing I have I my head), but I know there will be lots of laughs when we do! I know what you mean about freaking out. We have a spa tub in our new place, and we all get in most nights. Both DH and I have had a few slips and she's been dunked. She cried the first time, but now she thinks its funny. It wasn't me with the work thing, but I remember reading about it. I'm just staying home at the moment, and we'll see about work. They have to hold my job for another 6 months, so plenty of time to decide. Anyway, good luck with your going to bed early tonight (not sure of the time difference). Its so nice when you don't have to worry about the little one (even though when they aren't around you can't stop thinking about them! lol)

Hi Stephanie and beautiful Amaya. Guess what? I haven't swaddled Tahlia tonight, I put her in a special sleeping bag (just in case she wriggles out of the blankets she won't get cold). Anyway, she's fast asleep with her arms up by her head. I'm ready for a long night of waking up, but I think she'll be fine. Just thought I should tell you, lol xxx

We have been doing this for about a week now. Amaya is doing really well with it, she goes down about 8:30 and wakes up about 4. I just go in and put her paci in her mouth and she is back out. ALTHOUGH, I made another post about this, how the other night she woke up at 1am wanting to play. What a little stinker!

I read that. Cheeky lil' thing! Well last night went ok. She woke up at midnight, but she was doing her tired cry. I couldn't get her back to sleep, so I put her in the bed with us. She went to sleep (eventually) so I put her back in her bed. Then she woke up at 6am, I fed her and back to sleep. It went ok, and now she's napping, or in bed being very quiet! I'm glad you did it for Amaya, it gave me the strength to do it for Tahlia too.
