Traveling With An Infant

Is there anyone who has traveled with an infant and how young? We like to travel and have a trip planned when the baby will be 4 months. I'm willing to work this out however we can but wondering if anyone has experiences to share. Or suggestions.

I flew numerous times with my daughter, starting at 6 months. We also drove throughout B.C. (mountains) with her beginning at about 4 months. The longest car trip was from Calgary to Vancouver (about 10 hours). She was awesome, and slept for most of the trip! We only had to stop twice, to feed and change her! Her first year was full of traveling and vacations. She still loves it to this day! (she's even picked up the road rage lingo!) How are you planning on traveling? Plane, train, automobile? There is a thread on this forum, that covers the plane trip needs. I'll bump it up. I found though, no matter where and how we travelled, I always brought more than I needed. However, when we stayed in hotels, she either slept in her stroller, or in a drawer! (Lots of blankets for padding!) Hey, whatever works! Good luck, travelling is far worse on the parents, than it is on the kids!

Thanks Chelsey! We have an Alaska trip planned by airplane. It involves fishing and sightseeing. We had booked an overnite boat trip but I'm not sure that will be good for me and baby. We're with 2 other couples neither have kids. So worst case I thought I could stay back at the bed and breakfast place and they could go. We have considered my mom coming to help so we can do more it's just this is more a trip that doesn't come around every year like our warm weather ones.

we went on a trip to Emerald Lake, when my daughter was 7 months old. I just stayed in the cabin, by the fireplace! Loved it! Having someone to help look after the baby would be a big help, especially if you want to enjoy the activities too! I imagine it would be too cold to take the little one out on a fishing boat! Take your mom, I bet she'd be happy to go on a vacation, and spend time with her grandchild too! Hope you have so much fun!

We took a 5 hour trip when my son was 1 month. I made a list of EVERYTHING I could think of that I might need and packed it in a big rubber maid tote. We are leaving town tomorrow for the weekend and plan to do the same, he's 2 1/2 months now.
