Hello everybody, Lately our baby cries alot in the later evening mostly then we put him to bed around 11:00pm. He then sleeps roughly 8 hours every night. I was wondering what can I do aside from putting him in the swing to keep him quiet? Please let me know and I Thankyou in Advance for your Answers. Warmest Cheers.

MAUREEN, YOU BABY MAY NOT BE GETTING ENOUGH TO EAT. MY 1ST DAUGHTER WAS LIKE THAT SO I WOULD PUT A TEASPOON OR 2 OF INFANT OATMEAL OR RICE CEREAL IN HER BOTTLE AND THAT HELPED HER SLEEP BETTER. IT HAS WORKED FOR THE OTHER 2 KIDS AS WELL. HOWEVER, MOST DR. WILL TELL YOU NOT TO DO THAT, I HAVE NEVER LISTENED NOW MY KIDS ARE 6,4,2

how old is your baby? rice ceral is not good for a baby under 6 months. you're not just ignoring your doctor, your ignoring the entire american acadamy of pediatrics.

melissa is right.

the only reason they said not to give them cereal until 6 mo of age is that they do not want them developing food allergies. However, I started giving my first daughter cereal at 2 weeks old, and my other 2 as soon as they came home and they are perfectly normal healthy children with NO health problems or food problems.

There's more to it than just allergies. Recent studies indicate that babies fed cereal in their bottles or started on solids before they can turn their heads away do not learn to stop eating when they are full. That is, they lose the ability to determine when they are full and will eat (even when older) until they vomit. Overeating is more common as well as obesity (as children and as adults) in babies fed cereal before 4 - 6 mos. So is diabetes.

it can also do a nasty number on a delicate digestive system that is not ready to digest solid foods, and can cause some nasty constipation. it's not a risk worth taking. maureen, i'd sugest talking to your dr about colic.

Could be colic. Try Mylicon drops.

When my daughter (now almost 4) was an infant, she stayed up late and fussed lots all evening. Her doctor said to let her fuss some because it was her way of destressing from the day and eventually it would lessen. He also suggested putting her to bed earlier. While she would not go to sleep any earlier, she did eventually grow out of fussing all evening. I also tried putting cereal in her bottle but it did not ever help her sleep better.

How long does your baby cry for? Does he cry for a long time or maybe just 10 - 15 minutes? A lot of babies cry when they are tired. My daughter fusses for a while before she finally falls asleep most nights too. She is 10 weeks.

Believe it or not we put a small CD player in our baby's room when she was born and we play the nature CD's for her with the relaxing sounds. She is now 3 and goes to bed everynight waiting for a new CD. :)

If it is hunger there are a few fruits that are digested easily by 4.5 months. If your child has already had teeth come out she may be a ready for a little food. Changes go on in the digestive tract while teeth are coming out so it is safe to feed a small bit of a few foods. Don't remember which ones, you'll have to look that up.
