OCTOBER MOMS

Shannon - November 30

well, what i want to do is work a relatively short shift during the weekend and have my dh watch her since he has weekends off, that way we don't have to spend any cash having other people watch her. he's not looking forward to it because he feels helpless when she cries and it breaks my heart knowing she'll probably cry most of the time i'm away. my dh also wants me to get a respectable job, cuz it's only a c___ppy restaurant job, but i think it'll just be easier to continue on at least until the baby's older and i can work longer or i can go back to college for my Masters degree. hopefully i can go back to school part-time, then i won't work at all and do a distance-learning program so i can stay home. we'll see. i'm kinda tense, worrying about what i'll do, things are all up in the air and i have to figure things out soon.

Lesley - November 30

I'm off back to college after christmas. It's only a 2 hour a week night course. I will be leaving kids with John. Come home to a bomb site no doubt LOL! I have been working money issues out. On 20th December I will have £400 to draw out the bank to spend on what I like. That is amazing! I can get the clothes, a few more bits and bobs and the food shop. I will still be able to get myself something from the kids too :-)

Hi everyone. I was supposed to be a November mum (due 8th Nov) but gave birth early on 18th October at 37 weeks. Was induced after my waters broke at 36 weeks 4 days. Horrible labour and emergency placenta removal with strong epidural which made me very ill but have a lovely baby girl now. Sophie was 5 pounds 5 ounces and is now up to 7 pounds and loves her cuddles. I think I've got a type of PPD unfortunately - obsessive cleaning with panic attacks - but at least it'll go one day. Sophie is an IVF-ICSI baby due to male infertility and our first.

lisa - December 1

Hi Justine and welcome, try not to think too much about PPD, try taking primrose oil tablets they are supposed to regulate hormones, hey you can come round my house if you have obsesive cleaning!!!! :-)

Jamie - December 1

LOL Lesley...(sorry, I'm not anywhere near an October mom) but this is the only "adult" "conversation" I get.

<Amy> (UK) - December 1

Lesley, Kai had his hearing test yday and it was all normal :) i'm so happy i was sure something was wrong. They said he's probably just used to loud sounds from when i was pregnant, seeing as i live in london. He'll be checked regularly tho as all my family on my mums side bar me and my nan are partially deaf so it could still develop. What's your e-mail address cos i'd love to hear how you go and if your baby does have a hearing problem i'll be able to help you with advice. Kai's 6 weeks today:)

the witnesses have been coming around here a lot lately too. they trick me by having different people come. then when i open the door i feel bad for them because they light up and get so excited. and i don't have the heart to tell them what my beliefs really are so i stand there nodding politely for 5-10 mins. i really am too much of a softy. on another note, i'm excited because i got a gliding rockering chair yesterday. :-) glad to know your son's hearing is ok Amy! hope Adam has a good birthday Lesley!

Barb - December 1

wow....those j.witnesses are something...eh??!! they were here too not too long ago....but I just politely tell them I'm a Christian and know God and send them on their way :) I'm still taking fall stuff down..I just can't get anything done it seems bc Trinity is constantly nursing.....but I'm excited to hopefully get our tree up this weekend ...or at least before valentines day...hahaha!!!

Mary - December 1

Jaime had his 3 week check up and he now weights 10lbs and 8 oz! On his last apptmt he was 9lb 2 oz (at 5 days old). He is in the 95% now - he is such a big boy and so hungry. No wonder my b___sts are down to shreads! :) Had another confrotation with hubby, I am tired of him being so selfish at my expense. I could not hold my tongue any longer, so I was mean to him. I am pumping at all feedings but once a day, and freezing the milk. Jaime is eating formula on all feedings but once a day when I b___stfeed. Given that I am taking care of him 24x7 I cannot afford to spend 1 + hour b___stfeeding and pumping and caring for my cracked nipples at every feeding. So I a,m going to try to b___stfeed once a day instead. I am just not sure how to decrease my milk production. I am getting engorged ever 3 hours now, and it hurts! :) So I gotta go pump. I hope all is well with you, I have not had a chance to read all posts. Kisses to all your babies and love to all of you, girls!

lisa - December 1

Mary, surely your making yourself engorged by pumping, if you stop little by little you will only produce as much as you need, why give jaime formula aswell as b___st, if your frezing milk, why not let him have all b___st and if you want to suppliment wih formula give only when you dont have enough milk?

Justine (UK) - December 1

Hope everyone is fine. Thanks Lisa for the advise about the primrose oil - I definately need to regulate those hormones!! I'd love to come round your house or Lesley's but unfortunately my obsessive cleaning is not much use - I tend to just clean the same thing over and over but if either of you want really clean door handles, telephones, taps, power sockets and light switches I'm your girl. It's wierd!! Kitchen units are about the only sensible thing I clean. I thought the nesting would end when I gave birth but no. The only good thing about it is I have a really good looking Greek therapist! Lesley - Hope the 5th birthday party went well. Amy - Glad to hear your son pa__sed his hearing test. Sophie pa__sed hers too though slept through a wedding reception disco the other day! She's got another test at 8 months as my husband has hearing problems in 1 ear. Sophie's doing fine, wants cuddles all the time and is now 7lbs at 6 weeks.

Lesley - December 2

The only time I don't make food for a party loads of people turn up! I didn't even invite anyone. Didn't want to hurt Adam again by people not showing up. I didn't tidy up last night after the party! I was completly knackered! Started cleaning at half 6 and didnt finish till almost 8am! It was a proper tip. I'm dreading the mess thats gonna happen at christmas!

lisa - December 2

im not well :-( I didnt have a good night, Jasmin woke up a 1 and had a feed then got realy frustraighted with colic and couldnt poo, ive now got stabbing head and body pains, and the house is a tip, owww

Mary to Lisa - December 2

I have super sensitive nipples and Jaime has a shallow latch, so b___stfeeding is extremely painful, not to mention that my nipples are still raw, cracked and with blisters after 3 and 1/2 weeks of b___stfeeding. The lactation consultant told me that there may be no solution to the problem ever. There is a possibility that when Jaime grows the latch will become deeper, but the sensibility of my nipples will never disapear. So I want to b___stfeed only 2 times per day to minimize de damage to my b___sts and hope that later on (when Jaime grows) I will be able to b___stfeed more often. I was suggested by the pediatrician and my obgyn to give it up because my nipples look like hamburger! :). Jaime started with constipation problems as well, and gas. Pediatrician suggested Dr. Brown bottles and 1/2 oz of pear juice per day. The juice helps, the bottles will arrive next week. Hang in there Lisa, our babies will only improve on their schedules and digestion as time goes on. :)

Shannon - December 2

my night sucked as well lisa. about 4:30 in the morning isabelle woke up and was being fussy. since my husband had to work in the morning i took her out in the living room. she finally crashed and so we slept the rest of the night/morning on the couch. my back is killing me.

lisa - December 2

oh mary you are a star for carrying on so long. How does the pear juice help? does jaime drink it? I tried a bottle of formula this morning and jasmin spat it out, she will take b___st milk from a bottle reluctantly though. im still feeling c___p, taking parecetamol, really want an easy night, im so tired
