I didnt go through and read everyones posts, so I might be repeating what someone else has said. Here is what we use and do: At home we change the diaper in her bedroom floor (I dont trust myself with changing tables, I am not very good at changing diapers sideways) We have the prince lionhart wipe warmer and LOVE IT! We use Huggies Supreme with Huggies wipes. For diaper cream, it is somehting that a pharmacist here makes so it is not nation or world wide, but if your ever in Little Rock Arkansas look up Kelly's B___t Balm. We use a diaper genie (the only time it stinks is when you have it open, and we keep it behind her closet door so you cant see it) oh and I have a towel that is just folded that I use to change her on and wash it once a day (unless we get pee or poo on it) As for changing her diaper on the go, I use the plastic wipe holders (people say they dry the wipes out but I havent had that problem) I take like 4 diapers with me depending on how long we will be gone, I have a black changing pad and a tube of ointment that I leave in the diaper bag.

sounds like everyon has already givin you good adivice when i change my dd's diaper (huggies) i wipe every time (huggies natural care) i put a&d ointment on after baths and when she is red or seems to be iritated if there is a rash that doesnt seem to go away i put her in the next size diper (at least at night) until it goes away i would highly recomoend trying several dipers and wipes until you find what works best for you and your baby (so dont buy too much of them at first) as for the liquid powder i havent used it but i have heard not to use powder until after 3 months so i would stick to that rule of thumb i dont use a wipe warmer i just hold the wipe in my hand for a few seconds to warm it and dd seems fine with that

Congrats Lara! You will be a wonderful mom. Since everyone have offered so many good advices, all I can say is.... Do not worry about not knowing anything. If you have the time, take some baby/infant care cla__ses and ask the instructor any questions you have in mind. While you are in the hospital, ask and learn from the nurses. I am also a 1st time mother and do not have any experience at all. But I pick up as much as I can from the nurses while in the hospital. Even if you have missed out some things, they will kick in and believe me... you'll improvise when the time comes. That is why every mothers have so many different methods for caring for their baby. Good luck!

I use cloth diapers and I use thin washcloths as wipes. I keep the wipes in a warmer with water.

I don't know if this has been said already, but that liquid powder stuff sucks! I got a sample of Huggies liquid powder and it says to "use like lotion". Well, I did, and he has a layer of white on the places I put it. It looks like dry skin except it wipes off easily. Not what I expected it to do.

I tried the Target diapers and my son had an accident almost every time. I received a ton of these at my shower so I gave them a try. I ended up giving the last bag to my sister for her baby and he ended up being alergic to them. I guess it must be different for each family. I like Pampers, Huggies, and a generic brand called Baby Dry. I think I will try the Wal-Mart brand after readign this post. I used the generic wipes made by Target or Wal-Mart. The fragrence free kind. I use Huggies creme or Desatin if he has a rash. I also try to change him every 2-3 hours during the day. If you have a boy, may sure the pee pee is pointing down when you put the diaper on.
