Monica, Anna is great during the day and gets fussy after dark. Recently we had some trouble with her going to sleep at 9 and waking up at 4:30. My wife is OK with it because she'll stay home this semester (teacher)..... After a feed and diaper change they both sleep till 9 so it's fine. Well, I'd say Caleb is doing great. That's 6 hours straight and it's alot better than 2 or 3 hours. You can try to keep him awake till 10 but he might get fussy. I don't know about the bumbo seat! What is it?

bumbo seat is a unique chair so that your baby can sit in the upright positiont. www.bumbobabysitter.com you can put it anywhere flat and while your eating dinner or while i am washing dishes etc., baby sits right by me. Caleb gets fussy also at night. seems to happen every night around 7:00 so thats why he goes to bed at 8. He just wants to get to bed and he is happy,. Gosh 9-4:30 sounds great... I would be happy. Caleb turned two months yesterday and next week he is getting his shots. I am getting nervous :(

Thanks for the tip, I'll check bumbo out. About the shots, I was worried too but all was fine. Caleb will be fine too. Buy infant tylenol if you don't have it.

Monica, your boys are adorable!!! Caleb's pic reminds me of the mastercard commercial about the chuby thighs and I think that's the bumbo seat right? You must be so happy! Well, Anna was in a rare mood last night. It started well and I could tell she was trying to get me to pick her up.... I did but then UPS came so I had to hand her off to her mom to get the door (I always do vs wife after dark) and she afer that she went on a 2 hour crying spree.... she was inconsolable.... Argh! I guess she feels I need to spend time with her too and not hand her off like that.

really cute boys, monica! that seat looks really handy...i might also try to get my hands on one. or can you only get them in the states? BBK, sounds like your daughter's a daddy's girl! sweet! my son's definitely a momma's boy! i love it, but i think my husband's getting jealous!

thanks for the kind words. wow anna cried for two hours. she must really miss daddy. CEM, I really like the chair, Calebs likes it too and I think he looks so cute in it. I am pretty sure you can get it outside of the united states. So scary but caleb had been sleeping 6 hours straight with the miracle blanket but two nights ago he only slept 5 hours and last night 4.. so now i am stressing out that he might be going back to his every two hour wake up call. BBK i have been reading the book "the happiest baby on the block" I think you mentioned this book before but the book has really good ideas about calming your baby when she crys. I have tried them on caleb and in a matter of seconds he stops crying.

CEM, boys grow attached to momma :-) yep it's incredible how my daughter already knows who can give her what. She even shows that extended lower lip when she's unhappy! Monica the best part about the happiest baby is that it's very gentle. Of course it's also limited to only calming the baby, but not making a baby go to sleep. When I finally calmed Anna down last night she kept awake sucking her thumb for over an hour, but would protest when I put her down. I'm thinking of trying ferber before my wife goes nuts.

i am half way through the book and i ave noticed they are not mentioning anything about a how to get your baby to sleep longer. what is ferber?

Richard Ferber has authored one of the two major books on infant sleep "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems ". The other main one being "The No-Cry Sleep Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Baby Sleep" by Elizabeth Pantley and William Sears. Ferber has a bit of a tough approach where you let your baby cry it out. It's very effective they say and it gets better quickly. But I don't know if we have the stomach for it....Ferber also has a gradual way, but many still consider it heavy handed. Pantley/Sears is the opposite and has co-sleeping (I think!) and is supposed to be gentle.....

please keep me updated and let me know which way worked for you. i guess i have more books to read.

BBK, thanks for the tip about geeting babies to settle. I've tried your shushing/shivering technique on Nadya a few times, and most of the time it works! :) I'm now typing with one hand because I have a very sleepy and contented baby in the other arm.

Lissi glad to hear that things are better (tip is actually from Dr. Karps book). I was worried about you for a minute. Things will change for sure! Anna is now talking up a storm. She can almost say mama.... when she cries she says ma ma ma.... and my wife is so happy. She calls me something like "amph-gh"....:-) Just wait and Nadya will start smiling in a few weeks!

Amph-gh! That's so cute! I swear Nadya has been able to say the word "No" from birth. Whenever she cries because I'm not doing exactly what she wants, that's just what it sounds like! Lol! Or maybe my imagination is working on over-time. :) I can't wait till she smiles either. When she gets wind, she smiles by accident, and you can see how sweet she's going to look when she does eventually smile for real.

hi bbk have not been able to get on line my computer is having trouble. Glad to know that Anna likes the bumbo seat..... where were you able to find it? Thats it everything else caleb has I believe you already have. Swing, Vibrating chair, gym.... baby mozart dvd... he acutally watches this.
