Hi monica! I just wanted to say hi! I don't b___st feed, but I don't drink coffee. Ihave to have one or two sodas to keep myself going. Caleb not sleeping well, or just tired from having to get up so early?

i got this from kellymom.com: Most b___stfeeding mothers can drink caffeine in moderation. Some babies, particularly those under 6 months, may be more sensitive to mom's caffeine intake. Babies whose mothers avoided caffeine completely during pregnancy seem to react more to caffeine in mom's diet. Even if baby is sensitive to the caffeine now, he may not be when he's a little older -- so if you do have to stop or limit your caffeine intake, you can try again when baby is older. Caffeine is approved by the American Academy of Pediatrics for use in b___stfeeding mothers. Per Medications and Mother's Milk (Hale 2002, p. 100-102) caffeine is in Lactation Risk Category L2 (safer); milk levels are quite low (0.06-1.5% of maternal dose) and usually peak 1 hour after ingestion. One study has indicated that chronic coffee drinking might decrease iron content of b___stmilk (Nehlig & Debry, 1994). If your baby is sensitive to caffeine, it will typically become less of an issue as baby gets older. Newborns have a much harder time metabolizing caffeine than older infants. Preterm or ill infants might also have more problems with mom's caffeine intake.

Kate, thank you. I guess I wont be having any. I didnt drink it when I was pregnant and my son is under 6 months. I need him to sleep.....I will just suffer.

Hi Rachael. No caleb has been sleeping at night...its me that goes to bed to late and then have a hard time getting up in the morning. I have to be more strict with myself and get myself to bed by 10. How is Lucas...did you guys have a good w/e?

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 12

Lucas has been doing well this weekend. Getting him to go to sleep at night has been difficult. His gums are really bothering him. He turns 4 mos old on Sat, the 17th. I can hardly believe it already!

4 months already...gosh time sure flys...all I keep thinking is that the end of next month Caleb will be 6 months. But of course i am here at work....and my son will spend the majority of his time with my mom....They should really give us 1 year maternity leave here in the states....paid of course.

Oh, I agree. I try not to think about all the time I am not spending with him, or it brings me to tears. My desk is covered in pictures of Lucas too! I love looking at him all day when I can't be with him. He draws quite a crowd sometimes! I'm pretty proud of him, as I know you are of your boys. Do you have a shrine of Michael and Caleb at work too?

monica - December 12

I have a shrine of Michael....I have only brought one picture of caleb. Poor caleb...I just have not had time to print my pictures. I have the pictures on the wall in front of my desk. I just look up and there they are.

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 12

They say the second baby always has less pics LOL! I'm sure you'll get more up soon. I just started a sc___pbook for Lucas too. I got some sc___pbooking supplies for my shower, and did a pregnancy one. Now I started a newborn one. I have a good time doing it, It's just hard to find time to do it.

monica - December 12

I am horrible at sc___p books...I did their website and that didnt take too much time and it was fun to do.....I have not updated it in a while. Now that I am at work there is no time to do anything.

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 12

I hear you. I don't even know when I will get to wrap Christmas presents. I did the sc___pbook while he was at his grandma's for a sleep over Friday night. I should have been wrapping instead.

monica - December 12

Oh I wrapped my presents this Sunday while my husband played with the boys. Finally the tree has some presents. I still have to go and buy the boys their presents....I will do it on my day off from work during the week. Did you finish your Christmas shopping?

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 12

I'm almost done, I just have some odds and ends to finish up. That should be done by next week. We also have to ship some presents to NY and MD, so I have to get those out soon too!! My brain hurts thinking about it!

I know so much to do!! I forgot did lucas take a picture with santa? Hey do you know at what age baby eats for solids and starts drinking less milk? I forgot with my first already.

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 12

Lucas got his pic with Santa a few weeks ago! It turned out super cute. He did not smile, but didn't cry. It'll probably be after the holidays before I get a webpage up, but will put it in there when I do. I have read they eat more solids once they are around 6 mos. Peaches gave Lucas gas, so I was taking a break for a few days. I still need to do squash, applesauce and the greens with Lucas. Bananas made him break out and constipated him. How is caleb doing with his solids?
