Monica! How is it going with your little one? Colic is a generic term meaning intestinal pain or disturbance (derives its name from colon). Reflux would be when acid (with food) come up your esophagus when you burb, and gas is just that, without necessarily being tied to the other two, but it could also accompany the other two. On a sidenote, there are studies that claim that "colic" is less common than previously thought. It became a common diagnosis for crying babies when parents ran out of ideas.

hi bbk i took caleb to the doctors today and he does have reflux. i am suppose to thicken his bottles of milk with cereal and after every feeding i am suppose to have him sitting up for at least 30 minutes.i am suppose to do this for a week if he is still in pain by next week he will be given medication. how is your little girl doing?

Really? cereal at this early age? Probably to balance out the acid....I'm curious to see how it works out. Little girl is doing well, (8 weeks yesterday) she also throws up milk curds once in a while, but only when she drinks too fast and too much of it. My wife's milk production is way up so she gets full quickly these days. Does caleb take a pacifier? Anna refuses to hold it more than 5 seconds. How much does Caleb weigh? The ba__sinet and the infant carseat started looking small for Anna, so I'm guessing she's close to 14 lbs now

My first son was a big spitter and the doctor also suggested cereal in his bottle. He is 12 lbs as of yesterday. He takes a pacifier for about 5 minutes and then spits it out. sometimes I will hold it for him and he falls asleep. wow 14 lbs...she is growing a lot and I thouht caleb was big. How many oz does anna take at each feeding? Oh by the way the cereal helped a little bit but my gut feeling is that I dont really think he has reflux... I think he suffers from gas and is just a fussy baby that wants to be carried all the time and hates his crib.

Gas? Really.... have you tried those mylicon drops? I found they helped in the first few weeks, now we haven't had to use them since the baby burps better. I'll be sure to ask the doc about cereal now in the next visit.
