All babies are different. Some will sleep in the crib from the day they get home from the hosptial and others won't till they're older. My daughter is almost 4 months old and has never slept in her crib. I've tried a few times but she has to be rocked to sleep. She sleeps in a ba__sinet. She's going to outgrow her ba__sinet in a few months so she'll have to learn to sleep in her crib and put her self to sleep then. Someone bought the crib for us before the baby was born, but if no one did we would have waited a few months before buying one.

My daughter is three and a half months. She slept in the ba__sinette for the first month and a half, and when she started seeming crowded we moved her to the crib. She sleeps in it without a problem. It's also good when they're a little older, because sometimes they wake up before you, and it's good to know they're confined to a safe area. My older daughter slept in her crib until she was one and a half, when daddy was trying to fix the crib and broke it. Then we put her in a toddler bed and she never stayed put.

Your baby may not sleep in her crib at first but my son was in his until he was almost 2 and loved it. He was in our room in his ba__sinet until he was a few months old then we started putting him in his crib.

Hi karen- I agree, all babies are different! I got a pack-n-play as a gift and thought it would be sooo handy- It has a ba__sinet and changing table that can be removed to form a play pen. Well, my son never would sleep in the darn thing! We tried from day 1 and he never did for more than 30 minutes. As for a crib, we have one but haven't set it up yet. I think he may like it though b/c it has a firmer mattress than the ba__sinet.

The ba__sinette I had was part of the pack and play...it was really useful at first. Now it's all packed away in the closet, waiting for trips to grandma's house. Someone gave me a plain ba__sinette when I had my first child, but it said it had a weight limit of 15lbs, which my first daughter had exceeded by 2 months.

Lucas has a lovely crib that he refuses to sleep in fro more than a nap here and there. We tried the first 5 weeks to only use the crib to sleep. Ha! So we put the pack n play up in our room. Forget it, it is just taking up space. He sleeps with me. But I do have high hopes of using the crib in the future! I wouldn't think it's a waste. They outgrow those ba__sinetts very quickly. Mine would have anyway, he weighs over 16 lbs at 3 1/2 mos!

It works best for our baby to sleep in our room w/ us. She sleeps in a pack in play ba__sinet until she wakes for a feeding then we put her into bed w/ us and she nurses back to sleep-so she will sleep in the bed with us from about 3 or 4 am till 7-8. We have a crib that she will never sleep in! If I could go back I would have spent any money that we did on crib/ba__sinet etc. and got a king size bed!

not sure what you mean by crib? im from uk but our baby has slept in a big cot from day one and sleeps like an angel, I warm her bed with a hot water bottle before she gets in, i think its a waste of money to buy a small basinette. the cot is in our room
