Hi girls! So, this is the week I've been dreading...going back to work...yuck! Colleen - no, no one is certified. We are looking at changing asap. We've been calling around to day cares and to other home providers. The soonest openning we've found (at a place we really like) is the end of May. So, the longest he should have to go to this babysitter is two months. I guess I can live with that...I have to. But, we're doing all we can at this point. So, we tried formula at the first night feeding (which is about 2:30 now). And, he slept like 3 hours...it was great! So, I think we are going to do this for now...and I'll try to pump too so that he can have all BM during the day. How is everyone? jeni - sorru your incision is still so sore. I don't know about that, since I had a v____al birth. But, based on the pain I had just to get my appendix out, I'm sure it's horrible. Colleen - you aren't crazy at all. I''m currently putting together info for the babysitter and I'm writing down SIDS risks and lots of other information... Anything that makes you more comfortable is great! By the way, are the meds till helping you? Like I said, they helped me a lot in the past. And, tara and jess - how are you? Take care. I'm off to get things as ready as I can for Wednesdya...Brady's first day at the babysitter... Kim

Hi girls- jeni- I had c-sections too and it was better after 2 weeks. Do you think you should call the doc to be sure all is ok? It's not red or weepy like an infection right? kimmer- I know the dread you are feeling! I'm glad the night feedings have gotten a little better. Does he take a Binky? I ask b/c Luke would fuss during the night and I'd give him the binky and he's go another hour or two. The little guys are always tougher (little stinkers!) That's great that you have found a new babysitter, I'm sure he will be perfectly fine until May. I have a sheet on my fridge that gives quick steps for CPR (3 and 30 for infants)also choking if you want I can email it to you to put into your packet for the babysitter. Do you work full time or part time? My 2yo dd is sick with some kind of stomach virus. She was puking all day saturday and now has diarrhea. The poor thing, I feel so bad for her and yet I am so worried that Luke will get it too. I feel kinda achey and c___ppy so I hope I'm not getting it too. I can't wait for this crummy winter to end! Luke will get his RSV shot tonight from the visiting nurse so I can't wait to see what the little fatty weighs now (although I could do without the shot :( Tara, Jess, Michelle- how are you guys and everyone else? Colleen

TaraO - March 23

Hi Girls, I have been so busy lately...I think since I know I only have a month left till work starts, I am cramming to do all of the things I thought I would be able to do. Colleen- sorry to hear about the stomach virus...It's pretty c___ppy...My lo had it and then it went through our house like wild fire. Kimmer- What type of bed time routine do you have? My routine is bath, bottle story...bed. I did it every night for a week and it seemed to get him in the habit and I also stopped talking to him when he does wake up. The dr. told me not to speak even to soothe. Just change, feed and put him back. He only wakes up once in a while in the middle of the night now, but I don't even speak a word. The closest to a word is shhh... And then in the morning when I pick him up we make a big fuss!!! One week doing this and things started to get better. I was so depressed.. He was only sleeping for an hour at the most now he sleeps 8:30 to 7:30 am. JEss... How are you? Everyone else... Hello and hope you are doing well! I am very excited Michael just started to giggle...!!! It is so cool when they start doing that. Talk to you soon

Hi girls! So, today is my last day home :( I'm trying not to dwell. I work full time. I work for the state Ohio. Colleen - that would be awesome if you could send that stuff to me. My email address is ksrigby at hotmail dot com. Also, for those with facebook, you can add me that way :) I'm so sorry to hear your daughter is sick. Yuck! I hope you and Luke don't get it. Good luck at the appt. today with Luke. I'm sure he'll be fine with the shot! Like sending your babies to day care, I think the shots are generally rougher on us than them. Brady has an appt. today too - just a weight check. He's now 12.5 weeks! Tara - how old is Michael now? I do have a routine...bath, bottle (usually 4 oz., but he drank more than 5 last night), burp, rock, bed. He generally goes down at 9:30. We try to make it earlier, and he always ends up fighting it until about 9:30. He's been sleeping until 2-2:30 lately, then waking and eating, then waking again about 4-5, then again around 6ish. I would be fine if he would just cut out that 4-5 wake-up! I'm so happy for you that Michael is sleeping so well now!! That's great! Oh yeah, and when he wakes, I just feed or rock him some and put him back...no talking. jeni - I hope your incision starts to feel better. I'm sure it's painful! Yeah, I can't wait for Brady to giggle. He smiles a lot now, which is awesome! Oh, and I'm SO ready for summer!! Bring on 80 degrees. TTYL Kim

Well, I'm a first-timer, but thought I'd post anyhow. I gave birth to twin boys December 1, 2008. Just thought I'd say a quick hello. :)

funnygal84 - March 24

Tara-we use juice mixed with their formula for our twins. also, my grandma's (always with the good advice) say to put a little karo syrup in a bottle to loosen things up. my ped did say if juice doesn't help to get miralax. also, i'm a ma__sage therapist and when my boys have constipation issues, i rub their tummies to get things moving. if you gently rub in a clockwise motion in circles around the bellyb___ton. starting about 1-2 inches away and getting closer to the bellyb___ton each pa__s. this helps get the digestive tract in order. it works everytime for my boys. (you can also do this on children and adults. if you have the opposite problem (diarrhea) just do the same thing counter-clockwise. i know it might hokey, but it works like a charm.

funnygal84 - March 24

clindholm- my boys both rolled over for the first time yesterday!! and i was of course at work. i almost cried myself when their care-providers told me. they thought they'd got it on video, but the camera didn't save it or something. i wish i could afford to stay home, but we can't live on 1 salary. if we could, though, i'd stay for the first year at least. :\

TaraO - March 24

Hi girls!!! Hope all is well. We're still battling the bellyaches over here. Not sure if it is from the reflux or from the juice mixed in the formula. I also have been giving him 2 tsp of rice in his bottle because over the past 3 weeks his spitting up has tripled. He barfs three hours after a bottle and yesterday we went through 12 onesies!!! Tons of WASH!!! He's gaining weight so it's not a problem. The only problem is the belly aches. I feel so bad.I tried the Karo syrup for the pooping but it didn't help. I am trying the juice tonight to see if it has any effect, if not off to get some miralax!!! I need a miracle for that... He sleeps wonderful, but the time he's awake is painful for him!!! funnygal, thanks for the advice with the ma__sage. I'm going to try it!!! kim - I hope you have a great last day. I'm sure you will get used to it, even though I'm sure it will be tough. My lo is 13 weeks 5 days. He was born on the 18th of December. jeni - hope you are feeling better!!! Colleen - Did you get the bug from the kids? I hope not. My email for facebook is ttorsini at hotmail dot com How old were your babies when they rolled over? Michael has no interest...He cries on his belly.. I try though all day!!! HAve A GREAT DAY! !

funnygal84 - March 24

They'll be 4 months this coming monday. They both screamed bloody murder during tummytime at first if it was on the floor. The only way we could get them to do tummytime at all was to have them on our chest/tummy. Now they've gotten used to it more and aren't so fussy. Their care-providers told me they'd been trying for over an hour. They're determined, that's for sure. :P

austynsmommy - March 24

Hi ladies. Kimmer I know how hard it is to go back to work. I had to work right after I had my first two kids. This is my first time being able to stay at home. Congrats on your twins funnygal84. I have always wanted twins. TaraO I hope the stomach thing resolves soon. My first two had stomach problems. Colleen I hope you and your baby didn't get the bug. My son had it a two months ago and I was so scared Aj would get it. Aj is doing great. Still sleeps all night. My father in law commited suicide late wed or early thursday morning. We have been out of town all weekend with the family. We just got back yesterday. I'm just trying to be there for my hubby. Well I should get off here. Hope everyone else is doing good. Amanda

babeedust2all - March 24

Austynsmommy, that's terrible. Was he depressed? How's your hubby doing? Clindholm, I hope you and Luke don't get sick as well; it's so nerve-wracking when they're so young. Kim, I hope you were able to enjoy your last day with Brady, and that you both have an easy transition. I cried for a week straight when I went back to work after having my ds. It was probably more the fact that he loved daycare and never shed a single tear!!! Tara, I hope Michael's reflux starts to calm down. I'm glad to hear that he's still gaining weight, but I know it's nerve-wracking nonetheless. Funnygal, twins! Wow, that must be busy! It's neat that they both first rolled over on the same day! Sorry, that you missed it though. As for me, we're just hanging out! Makayla's sleeping well at night, but has been cranky on and off for the past couple of days. She keeps poking her fingers in her mouth, so I suspect that the teething process has started for sure. How do you teach a baby to use a teething toy? She doesn't bite on it, she just sucks it! We're starting Kindermusik on Friday morning for the next couple of months, so it will be nice to do something with just her (ds is at Preschool during that time). Other than that, I'm just trying to find the time to sc___pbook so that hers isn't a fraction of the size of my son's!!! Anyway, I hope everyone's doing well!

micsmms3 - March 25

Hi all! I haven't been on all week, between my wireless acting up the rare chances that I get to be on the computer (figures.. just my luck) and my dd's lack of understanding in letting me hang out by the computer a bit... I just can't get to it! Dog update-- I never saw the scar, and the vet did not either. She was on pain pills, and now just continuing her antibiotic. 1 more week to go before we get the many staples out! She doesn't seem to notice anymore, so I'm playing along with her on that! ; ) My email on facebook is michelleschneider1 at fuse dot net. I'm also on myspace, but rarely go there. Kimmer, Brady is a cutie! Sorry that your back to work, I'm sure it's awful. I dread it, to be honest. I liked all of Colleen's advise on the babysitter and was happy to hear that you found another place to go, a few months from now. The thing that bothered me the most was her unwillingness to learn at least about CPR. You would think someone would want to be able to do what is necessary, if anything should happen, god forbid. Hopefully she will take the time to look through your packet. Also glad your sleep schedule is improving with formula. I have my own childcare reservations which I will get into a little, today-- keep reading! I'm so impressed with Tara's schedule... WOW! You are soooo lucky! I think my dd has reflux as well. She is 90% b___stfed, but seems to have bouts of diarrhea, constipation, gas, and what I think is reflux. Always something, the poor thing. I guess I'm not eating properly for her? I have no idea. The reflux seems to come on the worst when someone else is watching her- I say it's because I'm not there but the care givers (mother and bf's mother) say they think it's gas related or reflux related. I've heard her screaming with them all the way out from the driveway... she doesn't ever do that with me! What do you girls think? Colleen I would love if you would email me the quick CPR steps to post for my mom, and bf's mom... I doubt they know as they are both late 60's. They do everything old school which drives me absolutely crazy. "she's not cold" I keep telling them, as they add too many layers and wrap her in a blanket.... then I remind them about SIDS and overheating... "Oh" they say... and look at me like I'm making it up- especially bf's mom. There are other issues, but I won't get into them right now. No wonder I hate to leave my dd! I'm a nervous wreck as soon as I walk out the door and find myself speeding home like a maniac. For those of you whom feel old... I may be the eldest here... I'm 37. However, I have to say that hardly anyone thinks I am that old, likely because I am a bit immature! ; ) babydust, how old is your lo? I think mine is also beginning teething. I do try to put the teething toys in her mouth when she seems like she is wanting to chew- and is whiney. Maybe we need to put some milk or something on it? My lo is almost 4 months old- which leads me to saying- Funnygal/P, Welcome! Our lo's have the same bday!

funnygal84 - March 25

micsmms3- that's so neat!! they can be birthday buddies. :P i'm a young mom and the only person i know (aside from family) that has children, so it's really nice to have found this forum. i just wish i could find a club in my area that wasn't strictly for SAHMs. it seems all the playgroups and mom clubs don't really include working moms. :\ colleen-do you think you could send me the cpr tips as well? it would be nice to keep in the diaper bag. :) my email is funnygal84 at yahoo dotcom. oh, i'm also on facebook as well. isn't everyone these days? my 8 year old cousin has a facebook page. :P

clindholm - March 25

Hi girls- well you all guessed it, I had the stomach virus yesterday. I haven't spent that much time in the bathroom since I was pregnant! It's really hard taking care of 2 lo's when your puking and visiting the bathroom so often, blah. I feel abit better today but my 2yo still ahs diarrhea. I am worried about her. I am still bracing myslef for Luke to get sick any day now. I will bring in the CPR tips and email to everyone tomorrow (my dsl is still a little iffy at home) Welcome funnygirl- wow I don't think I'm mentally equipped for twins! Were they early at all? Are you formula of bf'ing? Tara- Don't you just love the first giggles? They are priceless! Luke laughs just like a little old fat guy, it's precious. Your lo is a great sleeper! I think the routine helps alot. Does your lo like the bath? Mine hates it so it's not so much relaxing as exhausting to him, but hey, whatever gets the job done! btw- the rice could be adding to the constipation. Can you try barley wich tends to loosen things up? Jeni- glad you're feeling better. I'm still considering getting a tubal since my bp is still high so I'm really limited on bc and condoms are not all that great. Kimmer- I hope your first days back to work have gone well. Try to keep in mind that everyday does get better. It's not that you don't miss them, it's more of an acceptance. Oh and full time b__ws! I am trying to see if I can work something out here so I can work 4 days instead of five and still keep my benefits. austinsmommy- I am so sorry to hear about your father in law, that is devastating. Are you ok? Is your dh ok? I was wondering why you weren't around. Hang in there. babeedust- yup, it sure sounds like teething. Luke has been doing the same thing and he won't chew on the teethers either. micsmms- I will send you all the CPR info and I also posted the SIDS stuff for my mom. She knows that I'm SIDS obsessed so she's real careful. I knew someone who let her dd sleep on her tummy b/c she slepp better and didn't startle. Well, I couldn't sleep for days thinking about the risk she was putting her baby in! I have ordered the "BabeSafe Mattress Cover" which is supposed to work on the Toxic Gas Theory. I also have a motion monitor so as soon as the mattress cover comes, Luke will be in his crib. That will be big step for me! I'm glad you doggie is doing better. I wonder if your lo has separation anxiety and that's why she cries when you are away? We had 5 dogs until last year then we lost 2 and have 1 that needs to be put down any day now :( Even though he's old it will still be sad. btw- I've got you beat on the age! Alright, time to get back to work. Colleen

funnygal84 - March 25

clindholm-i had them at exactly 37 weeks. thank goodness, because the hospital i wanted to deliver at would only allow it after 36 weeks. i found this out when i went in with my 3rd bout of preterm labor at 35 weeks. :P i recently stopped bfing and am now just formula feeding with a soy formula. since the boys started teething, they haven't been interested in nursing. i think it's just because they have instant gratification with the bottle and have to work a little harder with nursing. :P i was a little sad to stop, but they would fuss so much while nursing and just get milk everywhere, so it kind of seemed pointless. i was pumping for quite awhile, but have even given up 1/2 my pumpings each day. i figure if they're not interested, i should just let it go. tara0- i'll be 25 next month :)
