I do not think that you are a bad person for wanting that. HOwever i think i am a bad person because, my husband ahs a daughter from when he was a teen and she looks just like him, so now i am scared that if my newborn son does not look just like him, the family will not love him as much so now i am so scared he will favor me. i have brown eyes and my husband has green hazel with gold in them. and he has olive skinn this is what i want cameron to look like, but i a sure he will have brown eyes and light skin jsut like his mommy. I guess i am a bad mom to be scared my son will not look like his daddy

just saying - December 6

ok i have brown eyes my mom has green and my dad has hazel, my brothere has hazel, my gm's have blue and both GF's brown, my moms sister has green and one sister has brown. so a blue eyed brown eyed couple has two green eyed babies and one brown. then my dad has hazel and his parents were blue eyed and brown eyed and had 2 with hazel eyes and 1 with brown. so then my husband has hazel eyes his mom has blue. not sure about his real dad or about his moms dad, they never met their fathers so i have my family tree color down but our son could have anything considering there are some missing links. however because i have brown eyes and he has hazel, the brown will proble be more dominate and take over. sucks i hate brown eyes i think they are so plain.

to the hmm person i do not think that you are a bad person for wanting your child between you and your husband to look like him. i understand your resentment toward the idea of your child not looking like him and another woman get a child that look jsut like him it really has to suck

Well eye color and hair color in my family work wonders because my side are full blood Colombian and have brown - near to black hair and dark brown eyes, our shades of color very from really white to a nice tan. Now my three sons are often referred to by our relatives as the "milkman's kids" each of three have different features. My husband has darker brown hair now but was born with white blond hair and had blond hair up until he was in middle school where it started to change to light brown and got darker as he got older. His father, sister and mother were all born with white blonde hair and his sisters hair is still extremely light well into her adult years. Keeping in mind that i have dark curly hair, dark brown eyes and olive skin ... my husbands is pale skin, and bright blue eyes (which each of his family members have) and our first son Alex came out tan, light brown hair and hazel-green eyes, our second son Ben came out with pale, white blond hair and bright green eyes?? And our little one Max well hes a cute combo of auburn hair (my husbands grandmother had red hair) light skin and blue eyes. So dont think you can look offhand and determine what your child will look like. None of my boys came out with dark brown eyes??? :)

To scratching head... Well, I'm no scientist, but I just remember learning (briefly) about genetics in Biology. Genotype is the gene one has that is visible, ie, the one that you can see (eye colour for example). Phenotype is the gene one has that is not necessarily visible (ie: I have brown eyes, but got a recessive light eye colour gene from my mother. This I know because 2 of my 3 kids have blue - recessive- eyes). People always comment on how my 2 boys got their dad's blue eyes (I'm quite dark), and I chuckle and think to myself that technically they got them from me because he had no choice but to give a recessive gene. In all actuality, they got their nice blue eyes because I gave my recessive gene (phenotype) as opposed to my dominant gene! But I wouldn't dare say that!! A dark mom with fair kids confuses most people as it is! :)

I have no idea what the 15 y/o's post is about, but I keep wishing that Ben's eyes will stay blue. They are a sapphire, almost violet blue. I have very light blue-green-grey eyes and Steve's are milk chocolate brown. I keep worrying that Ben's will change to brown. So no, Jamie, you're not horrible for being disappointed that your dd's eyes aren't blue, b/c I will feel the same way if Ben's go brown. :)
