At what age do you put a baby in an excersaucer??

In a nutshell, because the walker does not teach all of the steps neccesary for walking e.g. getting up into a stand to begin walking. Also ever notice how they don't stand straight up in the walker, they sort of lean forward. Supposedly this is not conducive to walking either. Alternatively, there are dangers that I consider common sense, like don't let them in their walkers near stairs used to disuade the use of walkers. I don't have a problem with them. My baby has plenty of time outside the walker to learn to walk at her own pace. So that part of the arguemnt is not a big concern for me. The safety concerns while valid are of little consequence if you baby proof your home, don't let them play in the walker around upstairs (duh) or while you are cooking. They do move much faster in them so you do have to watch them a bit more closely as with ALL toys. I love watching her race through the room with it, especially if she sees a kitty. Sure it freaks the cat out, but it's so cute!

My first child used a walker.. and because of that learned to walk later in life then her peers. She never had to develope balance and proper walking tecnique, so when it was time for her to try to do it herself, she had a hard time. My 2nd child I bought an exersaucer. he LOVES it! He's been playing in it since he was 3 months old ( really liked the mirror and noise makers then) and he is now 10 months old, and starting to walk on his own. Our pediatritian recommended against a walker from the beginning, but someone gave one to us so I used it.. my 3rd will never see one.

Walkers - I was at the doctors office last week and my doctor said not to buy a walker because they can tip over and harm the baby. My son used the walker (he's 8), however, my daughter is 10 weeks old and I will probably buy her an exersaucer when time comes.

Thanks for the info. I guess I never really thought about it but I know what you are talking about. He doesn't stand straight in it.

excersauser and walkers are too far apart in age range although theexcersauser gets used much much more by children . walkers get left unused so quickly it would make any parents head spin.
