My hair loss started since I was 3 mths pp. It's been more than a month now and I'm still losing hair. Dunno what to do, I don't wanna be bald. Anyone in the same boat?

I was told and read that it can take up to 3-6 months for your hair to stop shedding like that. I know how you feel. I had super thin fine hair before I got pg and now it's so nice and thick and doesn't shed one hair! I'm 6 wks post pregnancy and I'm just waiting for the dread shed to start and I start panicking again about going bald. Go get your hair cut a little shorter than it is and it won't seem so thin while you go through your shedding phase. It will eventually slow down. You're basically losing everything you gained while pregnant. It sucks!

I am also still loosing hair and it's been 11 1/2 weeks. I can't wait till it slows down so I can quit cleaning up so much hair!

Hi there Paranoid. Your not alone. I posted a question about this too a long time ago. I know what you are going through. I started the MAJOR shedding about 3-4 months PP as well and the bad news is that my baby is now 7 1/2 months and I'm still shedding pretty bad. It makes me worry too, I don't wanna lose all my hair but the good news is that even though my hair has really thinned a lot. I haven't noticed any bald spots, it seems to be like an over all thinning and that it should stop and you should grow back what you lost. That is what I was told. I went to the dermatologist and I did some research and it is something that can happen. I was told though that it can last anywhere from 6 months to a year. I know that is long. I keep waiting for the day I can pa__s my hand through my hair and not end up with hair all over my hand. Let me know how it goes, if you find out something else or when it stops. I don't think there is anything we can do but wait. I bought Pantene's thicking shampoo but don't waste your money. It doesn't work. Hang in there!

When I was about 2 mos pregnant my hair started coming out something awful. Everytime I washed it or brushed it, I had air everywhere. I had to eventually cut my hair bc it was so thin. My son is now 11wks and my hair is getting there. I still shed more than I did bf pregnancy but it is much better now. Hang in there it wil get better.

I'm having the same problem also. I started loseing tons of hair about 3 months pp. My hair has always been super thick though so I don't really mind if it thins out a bit. I just don't want it to get to thin. I've also read that it can go on for 6 - 12 months.

Oh Yeah!! I'm still pulling out handfuls.

Are any of you taking prenatal vitamins still? I found that helped a little. With my first baby I started losing it about 6 mo. pp and got my hair highlighted and it seemed to make it look a little thicker. I have very fine hair also and dread losing any of it.

I always have hair loss problem before I got pregnant. When I was pregnant I was so happy thought it's finally over, yet now after few monts pp my hair is losing again. I still taking my prenatal vit and the omega 3. I hope the hair loss will stop soon.

My hair is really really thick. I have never lost more than normal after pregnancy. I wish it would think out a bit. I have far too much! It goes all the way down to my bum too, I really need it cutting.

Lesley - November 20

Think out LOL!! I mean thin of course ;-)

I'm still losing hair. I was very worried and even got a blood test which came out fine. Its normal. While pregnant the hairs that should have fallen out is falling out now. Its a cycle of hair growth that is starting again along with hairs that should have fallen off along time ago during pregnancy. That's why it seems so much coming off. It also explains why I had much fuller hair during pregnancy. Losing a lot of hair should lessen over time but naturally everyone loses up to 80 hairs a day. Its the cycle of hair growth.

I had been losing hair for a month and a half...I went to the salon and got a good protein treatment and all of that shedding stopped...so it may not be all hormonal...

Myhair just started shedding at 3 mos pp. I have a lot of hair, so it doesn't really bother me, but cleaning it out of the tub drain is a pain!

I asked the dermatoligist about the hair products out there. I said is it true that if you stop using them that you will lose hair even more than if you didn't use the products. He said yes. So I did not go ahead and spend money on these products which they can be pricey. They work good he said, but once you stop using them hair loss is worse.

to Rachel...they sell this thing at walmart to pull hair out of the drain...it's a long flexible plastic strip with little teeth that you put into the drain and it catches the hair and pulls it out. Cost less than $3 and it works in the air conditioner drain too

Heidi - November 22

Don't waste your money on hair products. Seriously. I've had hair loss even before I was pg and nothing will work. The best thing you can do is not fret over it and get your hair cut to a shorter lenght and it won't be as noticable. I've read and been told that after giving birth a lot of women's hair will never be as thick as it used to be. That's scary cus I hardly had any to begin with! I'm dreading the post-partum shed!!!! I used to pull tons of hair out before I got pg and now not one hair comes out. I'm just dreading it.
