I just purchased Parent's Choice Regular Infant Formula (without extra iron) because I was using Nestle Goodstart and munchkin was having "pooping" and ga__sy issues as above... He was having so much trouble pooping and was very fussy... so it was suggested I try formula that was not iron fortified and this was the only non-iron fortified formula at Walmart when I went in. 6$ cheaper so why the hell not. I've heard nothing bad about it from friends, only good things... LOL As for the "you get what you pay for" theory... as not just a new mommy, but also a business graduate, I have to say, those suggesting above that you are paying extra with brand names for brand marketing, etc are correct. With basically the same ingredients, you are paying for a name and for a company's marketing campaigns...

I never got a chance to respond to this thread. I feel awful for posting that it is "nasty" when I should have posted that it was not comparable to what Aja was used to eating. I did not mean to offend and should have thought b4 posting this. It had nothing to do with brand names, as PC formula is manufactured by the same company that makes Target's formula, and I love to shop at Target. I have used their diapers, rash cream, and wipes and rave about them. I don't like Nestle Good Start for the same reasons I don't like PC (clumpy). Honestly, I was disappointed more than anything b/c formula is so costly, and we really need the extra savings. Bottom line, I was looking for something with the texture/color similar to Enfamil Lipil. I have yet to find it. Thanks for the b___stfeeding comments, but that is not an option for us.

Oh, and Walmart pays plenty to advertise. I always see their commercials. Advertising has nothing to do with their low prices. The monopoly that they (almost) are, does.

Hey I havent really looked into it but have you looked at places like Kroger? I know they carry their own brand of formula. I dont know if it is all made by the same company or not but it could possibly worth a try. Good luck in finding something!

Maybe I missed it in this post but
I do not recall seeing anyone claiming that Wal Mart doesnt advertise. PC formula is manufactured by Wyeth Nutritionals and they do not advertise which is what I believe everyone who mentioned it was referring to. Thanks.

The lack of advertising from the manufacturer has nothing to do with WalMarts pricing of the formula.

I am not sure I understand your point then. The previous comments were that the brands like Enfamil spend money marketing their product which is why their formula is so costly. How does Wal Marts advertising have anything to do with this?

There were remarks regarding the quality and pricing of both expensive formulas and PC brand formula. If one can say, "Enfamil spends money marketing their product which is why their formula is so costly", then one can a__sume you are saying that Walmart does not spend money advertising and that is why they offer formula at such a low price. Wyeth would not advertise on Walmarts/Target's behalf, and I was stating that Walmart advertises as much, if not more than the other formula brands. They may not advertise a specific product like formula, but they advertise the business as a whole. I do not think the low price of their formula has anything to do with ad campaigns.

Kroger is a national grocery store. I do not know of any other national grocery stores, I live in Arkansas and Kroger, Wal Mart and Harvest Foods are the only thing we have besides mom and pop stores. I would just look into some local grocery stores that have their own brand of products!

OMG, q, are you in Madison? I ask b/c you mention Woodmans. I am from Madison and miss that grocery store:) I will check out Sam's Club and other local stores. I wish I had never used Enfamil b/c it biased me against other formulas. I am sure if I had started with Nestles Good Start, PC's texture/color would not have bothered me. It is starkly different than Enfamil.
