TC...that was a good idea...I was too busy being mad at my husband. He plugged up the toilet and told them it was me (I was on bedrest with a catheter), he kept going to get food and coming back and burping at me (I was not allowed to eat)...I was so hungry I could tell where he'd eaten by his burps. He also snored so lound I couldn't sleep, and every time I b___hed at him for it he complained that I got a bed and he didn't.

Wow JBear! My dh was scared to talk. Everytime I opened my eyes he was staring at me like I was some kind of science experiment. One time while I had my eyes closed and knew that he was staring at me, I jumped up and said RAHHHH. My dh jumped to he high heavens. We still joke about that today.

He was better the second time around. Part of it was that he had the excuse of taking care of our first daughter, so he could leave whenever he wanted.

LMAO, Jbear and TC! I too had an audience, but didn't give birth in a teaching hospital. I dont know who the guy was, but I figured it was "Bring Your Kid To Work Day", the punk was so young! The one nurse had horrible coffee breath, and all she did was scribble in her d__n notebook right by my ear! She ran and got the Doctor and told him I was ready to push the baby out, when in reality I wasn't ready for another 3 hours! I just hated the whole hospital experience! Dh was eating chicken strips he smuggled in, while feeding me ice chips! We fought the entire time I was in delivery! He told me if I kept up MY att_tude he was leaving, so I said "good!" He never left, but kept touching the equipment and playing with the bed.... uuugggghhh, I was p__sed!

Oh yeah and how about when the staff comes in and ask you questions while you are have a contraction. Then, ask are you having a contraction. Noooo, I just like looking like I am sucking on 3 bags of lemon.

They all stood around and stared at me while I was in the hot shower, totally naked waiting for the anesthesiologist to bring my epidural! I had started to get contractions at that point, and they wanted to make conversation! I was like, "could someone bring me a shower curtain!!!?"

They have to remember that even though seein pregnant woman going labor is routine for them, it is not for us. Sometimes doctors and other hospital staff can be so insensitive.

I had 5 student nurses watching. Very strange. I was actually talking to one during contractions until I was like 6 cm without drugs. She would look at the moniter and be like, "did you just have a contraction?" In the end I had a male med student examing me with my gyno. It was not fun. I had all those people saying, "oh he has lots of hair," while I was trying to push. I wanted to yell "I DON'T CARE!!"

i had them check me twice for dilation. Once when i went in my gynae checked he said 2cm and then proceded to break the water bag, no pain at all. just uncomfortable cos he got his whole hand in there. The 2nd time was when i was fully dilated. Checked by a nurse midwife. Her hand was smaller so no pain at all too from her. The pain was from the transition, contractions. baby's head was putting bad pressure on my perineal area. When i had my baby, the nurse midwife thought it was so funny when she said " ohh..nothing to worry abt dear, your baby's got black hair, not blond" (both me and DH are asians) and then she was laughing and laughin at her own joke. creepy!!

I didn't think it was anymore painful than the contractions once they really started going. I was in labor for about 14 hours before they got too bad. Checking me was just uncomfortable, but so was everything since I did not have anything for pain. Oh, and everyone always told me that the shoulders was the worst part of the baby coming out. I thought it was the head. Once I got the head out he shot out like a bullet. Doc didn't even have his gloves on yet LOL!

It wasn't uncomfortable for me at all...they stripped my membranes 3 days before my due date and even that didn't hurt...
