LOL LOL to:CEM. Nope....iwas just talking about in general, you dont know the parents aorund here, one couple has 5kids, age from 1 to 8 and they all are like that, they run from end of the road to the other without shoes, and when they are on bikes they have little skirts,no shoes, no helmet!!! THAT is horoble, an accident already occured 1month ago,i dont know how the girl is, but she fell right infront of me with her bike, (adult bike at that) and i heard her head bonk the cement...she was in pain. And i still SEE the mom let her kids out without helmets and shoes. (even at this time of the season) She stands right there, letting them. Even her 2yrs old. one a two weeler with trianing weels. her kids all play on the road constantly. its a very nice neighbourhood, but their is still crazy drivers around. Some parents try and its good, but i was talking about thoses who dont. And i guess examples, on wich people should start bashing LOL insead of taking it on Jbear. LOL

Colds and bronchitis aren't caused by cold weather, but by bacteria. So taking your kid out in good winter boots rather than trainers do nothing to prevent the occurance of either.

I don't want to be mean, and I know everyone does things differently, but most people wouldn't give their child cigarettes to keep their weight down, so why aspartame? They are both carginogenic. Also, a lot of artificial sweetener can have a laxative effect. Please don't think I am trying to be mean, I am concerned for your wee one. I am amazed that aspartame is still sold on our shelves in so many products, it is toxic. I agree with a lot of the other posts that water is REALLY important, it helps digestion and would probably be more helpful in controlling weight. Maybe you could try boiling it then letting it cool to get rid of the nasties? Take care JBear.

Also, I understand what you are trying to prevent your daughter from going through. I was overweight as a child and teenager and I know how incredibly horrible people can be towards bigger people, especially overweight children. It used to break my heart and even made me feel suicidal in my teenage years. I don't understand why it is the weight issue that people pick on the most, but it seems to be that way. I even used to envy the skinny girls who had pimples or were a little bit "unattractive", they only got ha__sled half as much as me!

Funny story....My sister always been very thin. She went on weight gain diets....LOL...I always been thick and have to work out to still a size 10/12. Most men thought I was getting to skinny. My sister wish to have hips and b___t. I wish to have less gut......heehee....we are never happy witn ourselves. Right now I'm trying to lose weight. Everyone tells me I look fine. Likely Jbear and T you look fine. The same people who teased you in school is likely having weight issues anyways....heehee....Anyhoo, I'm a sister...Thick is in. Most men I know don't like a skinny woman. Think of it that way.......Baby dust

I just want to let you know that soda is REALLY bad on your kidneys when consumed regularly. I agree the juice is not a really healthy option, it is much better to just eat a piece of fruit. However you should really reconsider the water issue. It would be a great gift to your child to get her in the habit of drinking water. You probably don't like it because you were not made to drink it as a child, but you could get her started on it early. It will help keep her weight down by speeding up her metabolism :) just a thought. Blessings to all!

Just letting you know that Aspartame can be very very dangerous when heated-up in pop. it is EVEN more toxic. iam not trying to be mean either, but you have to make sure that your answer is right before you say a suggestion. ill do research but iam pretty positive, their is a certain boiling temperature where it gets very dangerous....so Jbear..jsut make sure if your going to give your toddler pop...always makes sure its cold. as it is better

Karine, I think t was referring to heating the water not the soda.

I found it, the degree in wich the apspartame becomes dangerous. 86f...when it reaches that boiling point, it becomes a toxin. BUT Jbear....make sure that you give your daughter...fruits that contain Pectins...cause its the reversile...of the aspartame. It kind of make it even. LOL i hope i dint confuse any of you LOL

it all boils down to picking your own poisons. I am sure some of you others have given your children carginogenics may be with out realizing it. But to you the benefit was greater than the risk, maybe JBEAR sees this issue the same way.

Hmm. That's reminds me of a story where several people became ill from diet soda that was left in the sun for too long before it was consumed. I think I saw the story in the paper or on the news.

What about Europeans then? It's a rare occurrence indeed to be given ice in your soda here in Germany.

Karine, I was actually talking about boiling the water. Hot soda? ewww! Even grosser than cold soda! lol! KeeKee, LMOA! Yes, actually I slimmed down a lot after leaving school, most of my jobs have been quite physical, and a few years back when I went to a bar in my home town I bumped into some of the "popular girls", they were just about all fat! And being super nice to me, I might add. Just months before getting pregnant, I had been working one of the most physical jobs I have ever done, and was eating really well, I got down to the smallest I have ever been. 4 weeks after becoming preg, bam! there goes the weight all back on again, oh well, it's all for a great cause. I saw myself the other day on a dvd we shot in January and said to hubby, was I really that small? He replied, I like you better how you are now. He's either very sweet or a very good liar, lol!
