I had huge reservations about giving my daughter the hep B vaccine also. Personally, i didn't think it was necessary considering she won't be at risk until she is much older I declined after i gave birth to her but she has had the vaccine now without recourse. My 13 yr old daughter was given the vaccine at school. My 16 and 18 yr old girls missed out. While i think that vaccinating your kids is essential, i still feel that in the back of my mind that my 11 yr old son may have autism because of the MMR vaccine (apparently the thermisol was no longer used when he was immunised). I have read LOTS of information on this topic and have found thousands of other parents feel the same. All the government web sites and literature vehemently deny that vaccination and autism are linked. I still don't know to this day if my son is autistic because of the vaccine, it may just be that he had a predisposition to autism and the vaccine 'triggered' it. I wouldn't reccomend not vaccinating your kids, i still think its better than not vaccinating. Do the research and make an informed decision about what you feel is best. I wouldn't reccomend looking at statistics as they aren't always accurate.

Why wouldnt you want to do this? Vaccines are created to prevent transmission of some of the most harmful and virulent strains of diseases around. To not do this is putting a child at greater risk than the chance o a side effect

By the way, the reasons that most disseases hae been "eradicated" by vaccines is for the very reason that most people have them in the US... In others countries, these diseases are much more prevelen, and if someone contracts one there and comes back, it will spread among the uninnoculated. Because so many people are innoculated against polio, the chances of anyone catching it to contract are slim. Once more people are susceptable, nothing says it wont reappear. Doing anything to decrease the chances of your child becoming infected with some of these diseases is highly recommeded
