5cm dialated 70% effaced,strong braxton hicks for 2 days??? Anyone think of a way to get things going?

what does effaced mean? this is my first, i am 39 weeks so everything is new to me. I thought that once you were 5cm dialiated you were able to get emitted into the hospital........

Wow, Amy, good for you! When you go, I bet you will go fast! Mich - effaced means how thin the cervix is, as the cervix thins out while it dilates. And if you are in labor and 5 cm, you will get admitted to the hospital. But some of us pre-dilate and walk around with our cervixes hanging open before we go into labor! : )
