I drank 2 tablespoons of castor oil last Thursday night. I was 37 weeks. 8 hrs later I was having very strong contractions 2mins apart. I went to the hospital, I was 2cm dilated. Within 20mins I was 8cm dilated & needed to push. I was suppose to be having a c-section so this happened all to quickly. As they got me on the OR table 5 mins later I was fully dilated & pushing. Due to previous c-sections the DR said it was best for me to still have another c-section. So 3 and a half hours after my first contraction my beautiful daughter was born. So I would definitely be very careful taking it, as it does work. It also gives you very loose bowels so you could end up with a messy birth. Good luck. =

ive been told its not safe to take it before 40 weeks as it can distress the baby. i took it when i was 8 days overdue and it worked. i dont really understand women that take it earlier, surely you would just want nature to take its course. i understand it if women are overdue, as it really is frustrating by that time, but not women that arent full term yet, thats just my opinion.

To answer the question for Ginas1st, I would say as an honest opinion at this point in your pregnancy to not try anything for another couple of weeks. I know its uncomfortable. I am 39 weeks today and I would never try to induce myself by taking Castor Oil just yet. Your due dates are never 100% accurate. They can always be a couple of days off which could make you have premature labour. Your baby is still there for a reason. We have both come a long way, why not just wait it out to see what happens. The doctor should induce you by 41 weeks if nothing has happened anyway. So whats the rush? I am so impatient too. I have thought about taking it daily but I dont want to rush anything. Hope that this helps!! Good luck!
