Could This REALLY Be It This Time

I have been having contractions for about 2 weeks now, but at my last dr appt I was only 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated. Today I have been timing my contractions for about 2 hours. They were steadily at 8 minutes apart for a while, and then the last few I have timed have moved to 7 minutes apart. My stomach seems to have dropped even lower, and I am having some aching and pressure in my hips, back, and pelvis. I am so afraid to get my hopes up, but I would just love if this baby was coming out today!! What do you think? I am cleaning the house and showering and trying not to get to excited and to get everything around here done and just see if it progresses more. Send me good vibes!

I am 38 weeks today, 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced also. I have been having false contractions for a few weeks now. My Dr. said real labor will consistantly get more intense, you should not be able to walk, talk or breathe through a contraction. When you reach this point and your contractions are 5 minutes apart then head to the hospital. Good Luck and I hope you are in labor. Keep me posted.

ok ladies...i went to the hospital with my contractions, they were 7 min. apart, but didn't hurt..but all day long. they sent me home, two hours later my water broke, and i had to return to the hospital. The first time they told me i wouldn't be able to talk or breath ... i was laughing the whole time. It never really hurt that bad for me, if my water hadn't broken i wouldn't have known i was in labor. So if you feel its time, just go in, even if they send you home, better than having a baby in your living room.

haha. Thats a good story Carol! Well, its been about 12 hours since I started timing them. Now they are about 6 minutes apart. I am trying to hold out until they are 5 minutes apart. I am so excited thinking this may be it, but I dont want to get my hopes up if its not. So we'll see! Wish me luck!

I was having contractions 3 minutes apart but they didn't hurt too bad a last week. I went to the hospital anyway and they sent me home 3 different times! It is better to go than not to though, because then you can at least get checked out and see what's going on. Hope this is it!!! Lucky you if it is =) I am going to go take a bath and hope my water breaks lol. Post back when you can!

Still here! My contractions went on like that until about 4 am then they subsided some so I went ahead and went to bed. They are still going today but still back to about 7-8 minutes apart. I have been having the strangest feeling though. It feels like the baby is rolling up and down from my chest all the way to my pelvis, and it kind of hurts and tickles at the same time. Then I keep feeling a lot of pressure and pushing in my pelvis down below where my bikini line would be. What could this be? Is the baby moving down or what? AH! I am just so ready!!

Ca__sie, yes the pressure is the baby moving down. I had lots of pressure the day prior to going in labor. keep walking around and keep yourself busy. When you feel its time to go to the hospital you just go ahead and go honey....good luck to you.

Ok, not to keep bothering you all with stupid questions, but I am really confused now. I am still having contractions about 7 minutes apart, but now every second contraction is really painful but the ones in between arent. What the heck is this? Why is my body being so difficult??

I think that while the contractions are becoming more regular, they can vary in intensity a bit. Just keep noticing how they feel and when they are 5 minutes and ALL painful then I think it is most likely time. If you want to go to the hospital before then, it could be a good idea anyway, just to make sure that you are dilating. Just go when you feel that you should.

I am 35 weeks today. I have been on bed rest for preterm labor so on saturday I went in for the menstrual cramps and some spotting. They said I was dilated to a 2 50% effaced and the babies head was o station. whatever that means. They said it was early labor. So I stayed until last night but they gave me medicines to stop it and I didnt dilate anymore. I was having irregular contractions and my doctor said u still dilate with that.
