Dilated How To Check

I am 26 weeks pregnant, and went to doctors to check for dilation and contractions after bad lower back pain and some feeling of having to have a bowel movement, but not. They told me that I wasn't really contracting and to just take it easy the rest of the day. I checked myself to see if I was dilated a few days later, I found out how to just by advice online. I can stick one of my fingers a little way into my cervix, does that mean I might be dilated??? Even if I am not having any more pains?????

Is this your first child? If it is, the outside is opening a little bit, but it doesn't sound like you're dilated even one cm. If it's not your first, your cervix may be like that from having other children. I would STRONGLY suggest, though, that you leave your cervix alone until you are near term. You may irritate your cervix and actually cause it to open farther. Also, if you feel the urge to check again at 36+ weeks, be VERY sure to wash your hand thoroughly.

No it soulds like you aren't at all, if you where you would be able to fit the with of your finger, not just the tip,and it will be soft too. But you shouldn't do it anyway it can cause a really bad infection, leave that to you DR.If you think you are go to him or her.
