If you have an epidural how long do you have to stay in hospital afterwards, can you go home the same day if all is well with you and the baby?

Where I'm from it doesn't matter if you've had an epidural or not-vag. delivery usually 24-36 hrs and c-sec. 36-48 hrs also depends on your condition. I was there for arond 40 hrs for a vag. delivery w/ epidural.

I had my Dd at 1:21am and went home at 9pm the that night. I could have left at 7 but we were undecided as to how long we wanted to stay, as the hospital allows 2 days.

I stayed in the hospital for the duration and was very glad to do so, as there are so many services at your call... ie., lactation consultants, etc... AND the postpartum was much worse than I had expected. I had my baby last monday, and I'm still a bit under the weather...

Depends on how much they give you and what kind of birth you have. I had a c-section and couldn't feel my legs for more than 12 hours after. Plus, if you have a section they like to be sure all digestive parts are working properly so they wait for proper potty action before they let you do anything.

did it hurt when the pain meds wore off after your section?Or when you did,as you say "the potty movememnt"?
