Getting Tubes Tied

I'm not pregnant with my second baby yet, but I have a question? Whenever my husband and I have our second baby I'm going to get my tubes tied and for that procedure does the doctor usually put you to sleep? And how long will the body heal up after giving birth and getting tubes tied? Just Curious.

My mom was put to sleep when she had her tubes tied. She said the pain wasn't that bad and lasted for about a week. I think they can do it with laparoscopy now, but I'm not sure. I also have mine tied, but they were done during my 3rd c-section and I was asleep (not because of the tube tying- but because of low platelets I couldn't safely have a spinal). For me, I didn't notice it at all, since it was all lumped together with the C recovery.

Just to let you know....I am 40 weeks....2cm 60% effaced....I had my tubes tied May of 2004---6 years after my only child...Nothing is for certain! When I had my tubal ligation, it took about 2 weeks to heal. I was in a great deal of pain afterwards, but the doctor prescribed medication that took care of the discomfort.
