I have gone in to L&D 6 times for preterm contractions. This is my first baby but 6th pregnancy with losses. I have been 50% effaced since week 26, I am not dialated, baby is at -2 station, and I have been told that I have beaking of the cervix and that I am dialated from the inside. I have had the fetal fibronectin test done and it came out positive. I am still having a lot of contractions. I have been put on strict bedrest and I have been given betamethasone for the baby. I guess my question is this. With all that has been said, got any insight? I really don't want to go back to L&D until it is REALLY time. When would be the best time to go. I have gone several times for having labor contractions that were 10 mins apart and was given magnesium sulfate. I don't want to go thru that again!

Hi helpplease.... I know a friend who had a couple of losses and became pregnant again. Her cervix started opening very early at about 12 weeks and the doctors suchered her cervix shut so she wouldn't miscarry. She was then in a hospital bed for two weeks straight because he doctor told her to stay off of her feet, she's made it to 34 weeks now but she hasn't done any activity other than resting and laying with her feet up. I think bed rest does miricales and I think your doing exactly what's needed. Try not to stress too much because stress also has a huge impact on the outcome. Just tell yourself everything will be fine and think positively, try doing calming activities like reading or listening to cla__sical music, ect., I am a firm believer of mind over matter, and I hope this helps you at least a little. Good luck and hopefully all goes well.

I know it's a pain to constantly be going to L&D, but you need to do what's best for your baby. You don't want to have a premature infant at home. If you're having more contractions than you should be having (I've been told more than 4 an hour) then you really should go and get checked out. Hope all goes well.
