Ok I was induced with my second son. I know this is a fairly normal practice with overdue women, but I was still actually 6 days away from my due date. Is that normal or was my doctor just hastey?

Sounds hasty to me unless the baby was showing some kind of distress. Induction is something I want to avoid unless there's a darn good reason because it makes for much stronger contractions. This equals a much more painful delivery for you, and worse, each contraction is more stressful for your baby. Unless you're quite overdue or there's some kind of problem, it's really not the best idea.
