Ok cause expecting my first child i wanted everything to happen naturally but i'm now 39weeks and 3days, i don't want to do the castor oil thing cause i freak out about vomiting and knowing my luck that's what i'd do... Anyway i heard pineapple can help so today i went to tesco and bought a fresh pineapple, some sliced pineapple and 2 cartons of pineapple juice... I'm yet to eat and drink it all (waiting till tomorrow so i can be active and clean at the same time) But my question is, has this actually helped anyone before? I thought it'd be a natural way and i can be greedy at the same time, but i wanted to know if it helped anyone else?? :-) Thank you and good luck to all the other mothers to be :-D

I really don't have any insight about pineapple because I've never tried it. Done the castor oil twice, and it's worked both times, I never had vomiting with it. Most people talk about vomiting because it is thick...it's oil, but if you chase it with OJ, you don't even taste it...it does cause diarrhea though. With my 3rd, I did the nipple stimulation and I think that worked the best. You have to stimulate one at a time until you start to have a contraction...stop during the contraction and begin again on the other nipple as soon as it ends. Hopefully the pineapple works for you, but you could try the nipple thing too, if you're really anxious! Good luck!!!

Never heard of the pineapple thing and the castor oil......uh no. I couldn't bare to swallow it. My first I ate a big meal and went into labor........but he was also late. My second was to the day and I just walk a lot to help with that one and it seem to help....I really don't think there is a sure fire cure the baby will come when they are ready......Good luck......But if you are in a hurry I heard s_x is suppose to help speed up the process......but of course so is eating spicy food.........good luck and congrats

Well it hasn't worked for me. I'm almost 39 weeks and have been eating a ton. It might work better for you though. From what I've read it only "works" with fresh pineapple not the juice since they component in it that helps ripen the cervix is removed for juice and canned pineapple. Good luck though, you never know what will put you into labor!

I tried every single thing 2 start me off, nothing worked!!! I ended up in hospital 8 days over being induce for low fetal movements, and it took FOUR prostagladins tablets/pills before my waters broke and contractions started. I wouldn't recommend trying anything, It jus wound me up that lil baby girl wasn't with me, more. Good luck and I hope your not in hospital getting induced for 5 days like I was lol. xxx

That's the only downfall to the nipple stimulation...you really have to do it for a long time...and keep it up! When I did it, I even did it at the hospital when the nurses were out of the room...that way the contractions would keep up and they would help me. I hope this works for you...

Pineapple - while fresh has enzymes in it that stimulate the bowels - rather like Castor oil but a LOT gentler - so it is a hit and miss situation - but it is very acidic and there are small burrs in the flesh of the pineapple that make it hurt more on the tongue and on the way through ;) I use fresh pineapple to keep my rabbit's GI tracts functioning properly

it's pineapple, if nothing else it will give lots of vitamines lol

Sometimes, s_x, walking, nipple stimulation can help. With my first, I swear it was the s_x. Hubby and I had s_x and two days later at 5AM he was ready to come out.

Call your local chinese delivery and order some curry chicken. With my dd I ate curry chicken for lunch and dinner, went for a walk after dinner, and had s_x that night before bed. My water broke the next morning. Good luck!

I'm also a CNA, And have studied these things. Yes it can cause your baby to poop inside you which isn't good at all. But that's if you take to much. Taking to much can cause strong contractions "Bowl contractions" Causing you to strain yourself on pooping and having the runs cause straining of the abdomen as well. I would just take 1 Tbs once an hour try 1 Tbs at 1 hour then once more an hour later and wait about 2 hours for it to kick in "while your waiting that hour for contractions to start with first dose take a 30 min walk "outside or on treadmill".Come back in and take another dose.. If your contractions don't start after those two doses and 1 hour walk.. Take one more dose making it 3 and it should work.. I've recommended this to several patients in ER that were past 36 weeks pregnant.. And all came back same night or next night with a baby.. They were all healthy births..I wish everyone luck!!!

You can also mix it with orange juice and odd enough as it sounds alot of older midwives will tell yo uto add a lil bit of baking soda to the mix to make it easier to swallow.
