Induction Process Question

I am 40 wks and 4 days with Gestational Diabetes and am scheduled for and induction tomorrow, my cervix is not ripe so the doctor stated they will insert medicine to ripen the cervix and that this process takes a while, several days? Has anyone here had this done and what exactly happens during this process and I am a bit confused and scared on this whole induction thing. Is it true that c-sections are usually higher when you are induced?

i had this done. they put a pill inside you on your cervix and it ripens the cervix and sometimes gets things going on it's own. i had to have pitocin as well because 19 hours after the first dose of the pill ( w/ several others throughout the day) i was only 2 cm dialated. by 23 hours i was at 7 cm though so if you want an epidural make sure to get checked often. by the time i was far enough dialated it was too late for one. by 23 1/2 hours dd was here. also i've been induced twice w/ no c sections. good luck!!
